Do you mean actually scoring some runs? And swinging those things they call "strikes"?

I'm ready to propose a friendly best of three Sox/Cubs match up after we get eliminated. We can do one game @ Kane County stadium, one @ Schaumburg, and one @ Joliet.

This team is fucking maddening. I seriously thought they were going to win tonight but they just can't compete with teams like TB. The Sox are old, slow and can't FUCKING HIT SINGLES!

I don't see them winning another game.

Then I propose that both teams are killed.

Not having Quinton is kliing this team and someone please sit Joe Crede fill in already, as I can't even say his name after that display of batting over the last few days. Can Wise play 3rd?

One of the problems the Sox have is that the home field gives up HRs at a rate like no other ball park, so it makes sense to have a higher than average HR hitting lineup. The unfortunate correlation is that when playing in other ballparks, this won't necessarily work.

It was there for us again. Couldn't come through. 12 hits for the Sox. 11 men left on base.

Sucks. Rays are a better team. We all knew that. Doesn't mean we couldn't have won one of these.

Hey, get that one on Sunday and let's have a Monday.

I'm pissed but I'm not in a rage over this. Like I said, this is house money and the Sox are the worst team, of the 8, in the playoffs. Maybe we're better than the Brewers. In fact, the Yankees and Blue Jays our probably better teams than the Sox. They're not in.

It's house money but we're down to our last deal on the black jack table.

Missed opportunities...The White Sox had an ineffective Scott Kazmir on the ropes and didn't finish the job! That really sucks!!! :x

Sadly, knowing what we know now, I wish we would have lost to Minnesota so that I could have gotten over it early, and simply enjoyed the Cubs collapse.

That's a stupid thing to say. Shows you aren't a Sox fan. Wow. Losing in the first round is far better than choking the division. Plus they won 3 elimination games to win the division. That was awesome. You wanted them to lose the division to focus on the Cubs losing? Like I said, you're not a Sox fan.

The fact that the sox don't hit singles is made even worse by how slow they are. When they have guys on base and do manage to get a hit, most of the team can't score from 2nd on the hit so they actually need two guys to come through just to get the 1 run.

This team needs some speed guys bad. Hell, average speed would be an upgrade.

You can hate the Cubs. Whatever. But it's clear that you hate the Cubs more than you like the Sox.

Hahahahahaha!!! I have fooled you all for all so long!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Maybe you mean to say that I don't represent the same sort of characteristics that you look for in your representation of a Sox fan. It is impossible for you to tell me that I am not a Sox fan, since there is no formalized, standardized list of requirements to be one. I tell you now that I am one. If you would like to disagree, that is OK. Please notice who was doing updates on this very thread through the whole Sox game... I must have been doing this because I am a Devil Ray fan. You have outed me on this board and I am ashamed.

Thank you... you are a reasonable man! The one thing I am happy about is that the Sunday game won't interfere timewise with the Bears game (at least not too much.)

The Bears & Lions will kick off just after 12Noon Sunday with Matt Vasgersian, Brian Baldinger, Brian Billick and onetime former "SportsChannel Report" anchor Laura Okmin providing the descriptions on FOX, with Game 3 of the Rays/White Sox ALDS starting just after 3p at "The Cell" with Don Orsillo, Harold Reynolds & Marc Fein providing the descriptions on TBS.

Thanks for filling in the announcing details. Often football games take more than the allotted 3 hours, so that is why I made the point that it would not interfere too much with the baseball game. Of course, the Bears game could perhaps run longer or go into overtime, at which point it would conflict with the Sox game. I say that it would not conflict much primarily because there can be a maximum of one overtime period in the Bears game, so I would guess at worst, I should be able to devote my full attention to TBS by 3:45.

Feast or famine with this offense, been like that all year. I don't dislike the Rays, they are a good club, but man have these games been there for the Sox to win.

Oh well, I'm happy they made it this far. Never would have thought the Bears would have more October wins than both Chicago baseball teams combined.

It's a tough choice - buy crap that rips the Cubs or a ticket to a Sox game..... man, that is tough.

This is actually a good point - and sadly funny (what?) The Bears will lose the lowly Lions this week, yet have more wins, still. Am I the only oner that sees the bears losing to the lions ?(I kknow, wrong thread).

TB is a better team and I am not sure why people have a hard time admitting it. They were the best team the cubs played this year. It's one thing to lose games like the Cubs have, 4 errors, 7 walks, but when you play a team like TB and you do almost everything well and lose 1 run games to them like they did (OK one they totally sucked it up), it shows how good the other team is.

For a team to win 97 games int he East is as good or better than LA winning 100 in the west.

Overall TB is the best team I have seen this year, win they win it all? Who knows (Except the Bookie Priest) but Boston/TB will be a great series to watch.

bigfan with a sane comment. I'm shocked. I'm even more shocked that I agree. The Rays have the bullpen to win this thing. Once you get your starter through 6 and can go Balfour - Howell - Wheeler - that's tough.
