I am rapidly warming up to this band - I always "kinda" liked them, but they just keep sounding better and better to me.

Dead wrong. That streak is second to Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, Presence, and In Through the Out Door. 8)

Nah, presence fucks that up.

The second best streak would have to be III-Physical Graffiti - and you could easily argue that I-PG is the best six pack of music ever put out :)

Presence is great. The guitar work on that album is some of Page's finest work. But, I won't aruge with anything before that.

I'm with Frank on Presence. "Nobody's Fault But Mine" (an anthem for people like me) and "Achilles Stand" are delicious treats. Not as high on In Through The Out Door, however. Like the history of why they titled it that... perhaps Frank will expound.... but it was my least favorite of Zep's awesome, deep library of music.

You are forgetting Opiate. But I agree, Aenima to Lateralus is STRONG.

Rush's "Permanent Waves" album marked the beginning of the end for the Canadian power trio. Are you serious? "Invisible airwaves... crackle with life. Bright antennae bristle with the energy." What cheeseball, commercial sellout, fecal remnant is that? When Rush was a garage band with a soul, they produced some terrific music. Only when they succeeded did they fail.
As Lester Bangs said to young William Miller in "Almost Famous," "too bad you missed out on rock 'n' roll. It's over." I don't think there's a band that disappointed its early fans more than Rush did. "I will choose free will." I will choose punching the button on anything Rush did after "Hemispheres" in late '78.

Wow... I personally find "A Farewell to Kings" to be their best album, but dissin' "Permanent Waves"? Hang up on yourself..

The "Fairwell To Kings" tour is saw in the winter of '78 was the best in five or six nights I spent with Rush. Closer to the heart, Walter Delany72. Rockin'!

Speaking of Lateralus, I'd like to find the monologue from Faaip de Oiad, minus the music, and use that as the message on my answering machine.

I think I called you homo WAY before Death Cab. If I didn't, then I certainly thought it.

I guess you can say that.

Considering that logic, can I throw NIN Broken EP away and then have Pretty Hate Machine to Downward Spiral?

You could, but that's NIN, and we're discussing "best" albums.

As Bart Simpson said, Making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel.

I like death cab too, and under the same sort of music, another great back to back would be:
Arcade fire - Funeral/Neon Bible
