Do you think Davidson didn't take the best offer? While I expected a better package, I would have been surprised if NJ gave up the 2OA. I have been reading delusional, adamant Hawk fans and what they expected Debrincat to return for a while now.

So who will they look at in the draft?

Rankings suggest a smallish winger (Kemell, Savoi, or Lekkermaki) will be the best player there. I think the best the Hawks can hope for is one of the 2 stud dmen (Juricek or Nemec) or the big center Gauthier is there. Many draft analysts say the top 6 is in a tier and then things open up starting at 7.

So they have the #7 pick in a 6 player draft? Sounds right for a Chicago team

IF it was the best offer, you could of not traded him.

If the Hawks are going to rebuild they want to be one of the worst teams next season since there's 2 franchise players at the top of next year's draft. Debrincat hurts the tank.

Got a first (13 overall) and a 3rd? (66).

Perhaps they package the two firsts to move into the Top 6

Ok, the DeBrincat trade makes a little more sense with the Dach trade. Now get another pick along with an overpaid goalie, and look to move up.

One of first things I read about him is "concerns about his defense"

Sounds like an offensive minded power play guy.

Gotta think Kane is not long for this roster.

Hopefully he gets sent somewhere to get him another cup

This lady on ESPN sounds like she is just reading off a script every time she is asked her opinion.

Awful

They have to pretty much trade anyone decent in order to be bad enough next year to get the top prize. Clearing some of the Cat's money will also allow them to take on some overpaid piece of shit to get more picks or prospects.

Get a 3rd first round pick. Trade a second round pick to Toronto for Goalie Mrazek and the 25th pick in first round. They take a high school defenseman from minnesota Sam Rinzel

Not a fan of her's. I do like Emily Kaplan. She is very good with interviews. She also reminds me of my HS girlfriend.

Yes I agree, the interview girl does a good job. Way better than the host lady.

Started watching after the first trade popped up on my phone and was struck by a few things.

Liked that they had it in Montreal, fans there gave Bettman the business a few times and reacted to what they felt were bad picks/moves.

Bettman looks to be an annoying little turd, you could see him directing the team reps (did you really need 10 people from each team?) and moving the kids along (give them a few minutes in the sun, this will be the highlight of their NHL career for many of them).

No green rooms, the kids and their families all sat next to one another, kids walked up and looked everyone in the eye, shook hands, no over the top girlfriends or moms that I saw.

ESPN is just OK with the NHL at best, have to watch the CBC coverage to get a real breakdown of what happened, CBC and NHL network seem to be able to find women that know and can talk hockey where the US networks just want to trot out a somewhat attractive female face.

As for the Hawks, not surprised they gave up on Dach, he looked disinterested at best last year, and as everyone knows there are a few contracts that will continue to limit what the team can do, Stan Bowman and Ryan Pace have one thing in common, they both blew through tons of draft capital and tons of bad cap paper chasing bad players, which set back their respective franchises two-five years.

I am not happy with some of his trades in what he got back, but he acquired draft capital to set the tone for his rebuild. I assume Kane either says I want out now, or at the trade deadline. Let us see what happens.

Yes, shrewd of him to get a job where he can't be evaluated for the first 3-5 years of a tank.

The Debrincat trade was underwhelming, IMO. Dach trade was good as was the trade for the goalie. The only headscratcher was the choice at #25. The others, I'm ok with. I hope Mrazek is the .888 save % guy instead of the 0.923 save % guy.

I think I saw somewhere that Jones's NTC doesn't kick in until the 12th? I think that's when the start of the NHL year begins. Still have time to dump him. I think they may be able to achieve that if they pay 2M of his salary over the length of the contract. It's a long time but they won't be contending until year 6 of that deal anyway.

Should be an interesting day today.

I doubt Kane leaves. More likely Towes retires or gets a Hosea skin injury. Worst case they send him home to the Jets at his request.
