I went on Monday in 2016. Flew to Atlanta Friday evening and stayed near the airport. Then rented a car on Saturday morning and drove to Columbia, SC where we stayed at a Wyndham. Super nice area, great hotel that I found for like $60 a night on hotwire. That was about an hour away from Augusta, which honestly sucks outside of the course. Augusta has a really nice riverfront and downtown area but MANY stores were vacant and its not worth going to IMO.

Find a nice house or a hotel and just plan to get up at the crack of dawn Weds and drive to the course. There will be plenty of people doing the same, but they have it down to a science. I don't think it took us more than 10-15 minutes from the exit at Washington Rd to having our car parked. Other than a slight delay at the exit, no issues getting to or from Columbia via I-25. Was a very smooth ride both ways.

Well, at least I have another year to hypothetically plan my Masters trip…

When I went we had a hotel booked about an hour away. The night before on a whim I looked for hotels in Augusta thinking maybe there was a last minute cancelation. Well there must have been because we got a room on Washington within walking distance to the course.

Thanks guys
I will say, we will probably fly into Nashville and that way we go down with the rest. Thinking Athens as well as it gets us back closer to home when we are done. I see hotel rooms at decent prices currently.

Booked a Hampton Inn in Athens, can always cancel if I find something better.
2 rooms and 2 nights under $600 total, don't think that is too bad.

Makes sense if you are heading that way. We were flying out of Atlanta so it made for a pretty easy drive to the airport the next day. Glad you are getting to go, I know you’ve been trying a while. My sister in law got her confirmation this week but I believe she is going to sell hers.

Tickets for womens am event at Augusta. Probably an easier ticket than the masters and they still sell all the merch. You’ll only want to put in for final round. Only last round is at Augusta
So, I won these!

I have to think you can get something for them, which is cool.

So you got final round tix? If so that could be better than the Masters with potentially fewer people. Also could be easier to find a place to stay.

They only play at Augusta on Saturday, I did not win these.

He was talking to me, pig.

Yes, final round tix for the ANWA. I have until Aug 10th to buy. We're not 100% sure if we're going to go or not. I would like to, but logistics with the kid and pets might be an issue. We have until August 10th to decide. As I said earlier in the thread, this is a good problem to have.

Course should be pretty much wide open. Sucks that you can't bring a camera in, but essentially we would have first chance at all of the merch and yeah should be able to see anything we want. I missed the Par 3 course when I was down there, so if that was open it would be nice to give that a walk.

I know he was but I was saying the women only play 1 round at Augusta, the first 2 rounds of the tournament are at a different course.

Yes that is why I was asking if he had final round tickets or not. The other ones would be essentially useless unless you were there to see another course or some other amateur women golfers.

Hope you can figure out a way to go. They don't come around too often. I've never won the lottery for the actual Masters tickets in the 15+ years I have been putting in. Even if you bought them you could likely sell them at a profit to someone or to a ticket broker.

I was saying they only offer tickets for the lottery for the 1 day for the ladies so it is actually the only day you can win tickets, my apologies for butting in.

No you can actually register for 3 or 4 days of the ladies tourny, but only the final round is at Augusta.

This was my knee jerk reaction as well. If it was the actual Masters I would have already made the purchase.

I registered for the ladies but only for that Saturday round. I haven't gotten a rejection from them yet.

You can login to your account and it will tell you. I still haven't gotten an email of rejection from the Masters but logged into my account and saw.

I'm sitting here thinking about this at work. I kind of have to go, right? I was incredibly lucky to win practice round tickets in 2016. Even more fortunate to be able to have a chance to walk the course again thru their lottery. I can't not go Augusta freakin National.

I still can't believe that I am going to have the opportunity to go, it is very surreal to me.

It really is. There is no doubt your day at The Masters will be one of the best sporting events you ever attend. Its without question my #1 event I have ever been to, with Sox Twins Game #163 being a close runner up. A Super Bowl or World Series game would probably be the only things that could top it for me. Its that special and unique of an experience.

Get in a little bit of shape and walk a lot before you go. There are a ton of elevations changes and you will walk 10+ miles easy that day.

I was at the Packers/Denver Super Bowl in San Diego, this is far bigger to me than that.
