I'm not sure if they actively dislike him or not, but they're certainly going to make him work for a starting spot. Good. No handouts for the Stay Puft Marshmalllow Man.

Poles is right about Jenkins. He's a nerd with short arms. I hated when Pace traded up for him on draft day(despite everyone else loving the move) there is a reason he slipped.

It would be negligent not to have a guy with a back injury at least backed up by a vet

The Bears just signed the corpse that is known as Riley Reiff.

2 veteran O-lineman signed. Is that enough to convince anyone to bet the over 6.5 games?

No. Just hopefully will help keep Fields from getting killed and they can accurately determine if he is the guy or not

Not really. Justin Fields is the guy who can make it a 10 win team. I'll have a better idea of what he is in a few weeks. He looked smaller today.

It’s worth an occasional reminder that this team isn’t going to try to win games next year.

So much depends on Fields and the defense's ability to generate a pass rush. If things fall right, this could be, as you say, a 10-win team. If things go sideways, this is potentially a 2-win team.

The MANY Teven Jenkins fans are not happy...

Courtney Cronin
@CourtneyRCronin
New signees Riley Reiff and Michael Schofield didn't take reps during team period, but Reiff worked at left tackle during individuals. Team period featured Braxton Jones at left tackle, Sam Mustipher/Ja'Tyre Carter at right guard and Larry Borom at right tackle

Courtney Cronin
@CourtneyRCronin
Teven Jenkins rotated sides as an extra lineman during team period.

The morning show said they heard Borom is coming in out of shape. How does that happen when you are being tutored by the great Olin Kreutz?

He's still ahead of Jenkins. That tells you everything you need to know.

How do you report to camp out of shape when your new coach has repeatedly told you and your teammates that you'd better report to camp in shape?

That information probably isn't accurate. This is the same kid who dramatically changed his body last year.

Actually, it doesn't because we don't know if Jenkins is bad or injured, if Poles is behind Jenkins' demotion, if the coaches don't like Jenkins for valid reasons, or if the coaches don't like Jenkins for invalid reasons.

From what I have seen of Braxton Jones, if they can add some weight and strength on him without sacrificing athleticism, he's going to be a pretty good LT.

I think his rawness is more of the issue.

Unless something changes, they're looking at Jenkins as a swing tackle.

“Yeah, we’re certainly looking at a bunch of guys at that spot but that’s going to be a competition for that swing tackle spot,” Eberflus said when asked about Jenkins. “And then who else can play inside? Who can flex inside at the guard and center positions? So that’s going to be something that’s ongoing. We’re going to look at that the entire training camp.”

So if he can be bigger & stronger while retaining all of his athleticism, he’ll be good?

Hub just told Spiegel not to be surprised if Jenkins is cut. :shock:

Should he have tried to trade him? For whatever reasons, Poles didn't like Jenkins from Day 1. He didn't try to hide it either.

Robert Quinn didn't sound like a guy that asked to be traded.

Heard replay on Spiegs. He sounds ready to go if they keep him.

Quinn's first with the Bears he had 2 sacks. Last season he had 18.5. Which version will the Bears get in 2022? Also, wasn't the early media narrative that Quinn was looking to leave Chicago? Now, the media is spinning it to appear that the Bears were trying to move Quinn. Too confusing with so many agendas to keep track of...Quinn's, the Bears and various media members.

I think we'll see more of the Year 2 guy. He quietly had the best season of any defensive end in the franchise's history.

Yeah, it was strange...they said he basically felt like paying $90k in fines was worth not showing up to the OTAs and what's the big deal? I guess he could have just stated that earlier and ended the speculation.

Maybe you'll be proven right eventually, but you'd be defying history if that turns out to be the case. Quinn hasn't had good seasons in consecutive years since 2013 and 2014. Based on this trend, it's much more likely Quinn will be mediocre or bad in 2022.
