This thread by Elmhurst Steve is one of the most SACKLESS statements I've ever read. It's non-critical Cub fans (all seashells and balloons) that make most REAL baseball fans really loathe the Cubs.

It's a shame they lost, but it's been 9 consecutive playoff losses and a full century of incompetence.

Keep enabling your team Steve. There's busloads of idiots from Iowa that are lined up right behind you.

The Chicago White Sox beat the best team in the American league tonight, with their 3rd string third basemen and without the services of a bonafide American League MVP candidate. That's a team rising to the challenge - and it was great to see the rolling blackout!

SOX!

MJH could make this an email contest if they have Sox tickets to give away or something. Finish this line, "Hey Chicago, whaddya say..."

The Cubbies choked another one away

Derrek Lee just hit into a double play

I have to say I felt a little embarrassed yesterday in section 145 and thought some folks were a little classless but let me get your take on this.

The goofball Ronnie WOO-WOO comes walking down the aisle in his Cubs jersey but not saying anything or wooing and looked lost but some drunks felt the need to throw beer, peanuts and hot dogs at him and a few spat on the poor guy and screamed some pretty lousy things at Ronnie lincluding the N-Word which several of us were shocked to hear as sercurity was with in ear shot and whom several were Africian American themselves . But poor Ronnie had a look of terror on his face and I honestly thought he was going to cry.

I don't think I have felt more sorry for a grown man in my life than yesterday. My wife and I went up to the concourse to see if he was ok and some other people were with him talking to sercurity but nothing was done.

I know Ronnie is a pain to many and for those who have not been around him he is harmless but annoying at times and I think Ronnie might have a special needs issue but to treat the guy like he was treated was way out of line by even Sox fans standards and I was pretty saddened despite a great time and a great game I came away a little turned off by my fellow Sox fans.

Agreed, Ed. There is no call for that.

However, and I preface this by saying I do know that Ronnie's elevator doesn't go all the way to his top floor, he has to know whe he is getting into by wearing that Cubs getup at a Sox game. If he went there in jeans in simply a Cubs Tshirt, nobody probably would have known who he was. The guy loves baseball, and thats fine. But given the meatball nature of a lot of Sox fans ("ha ha we're still playing and the Cubs aren't"), if he doesn't realize he is asking for trouble, than somebody needs to tell him. And that includes Sox employees. If he shows up to today's game in that Cubs uniform, somebody needs to pull him aside and give him one of those Tshirts you get free for filling out a credit card app. It would be for his own good.

I agree 100%, and it doesn't make it right in the least.

I'm just saying that given how fans of both baseball teams are, it is far less inviting if the Ronnie is sitting there not wearing a full Cubs uniform.

That's just awful, Ed.
Big thumbs down to the Cell's security for allowing that to happen, and to Sox fans involved for crossing the line.
Even a Redwings fan at a Hawks game wouldn't be treated like that.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off when the Sox play one day longer (or more?) than the Cubbies.

I'd rather have drooping sox than crappy choking cubs.

I'd like some grated cheese with my meatballs btw.

Now that makes no sense to me. I still believe the Cubs may rally and do the improbable. But for the sake of argument, lets say the Cubs lose Saturday (I DO NOT believe it will happen-but lets suppose) then the Sox are eliminated on Sunday. What does that get you? I want the Cubs to win as much as anyone, but if they don't, it won't make the Cubs any better if the Sox lose as well. That kind of mentality is just bizarre to me. It's the old, if you aren't so great, maybe we don't suck so bad, mentality. Just stupid.

What lacks intelligence is someone who boasts about a team ending the wait, tries spinning the season in a positive way -- when his team is on the brink of elmination -- then follows all of this by questioning the angst of other posters -- Cubs and Sox fans alike.

Sucks what happened to Ronnie.

But how the hell does he always get tickets to big events? He was at the Bears NFC championship game vs the Saints. Now he's at a Sox playoff game.

I'm sure people with money just give him stuff because he's Ronnie. He's like a pet that you pat on the head and then throw a biscuit to.

Don't worry Ed. Even though I hate the guy - I had an extra $60 cash on me - so I fixed up Ronnie so he wouldn't get killed:

I think we have a new love child. Woo-Woo Wickers is the love Child of Secretary of State Jessie White and charactor actor Scatman Crothers.

Oh NOOOO!!! The Sox have dropped down into 2nd place. The pitching staff has an ERA over 6 over the last 19 games. The bullpen has been bad, the better starters are even performing poorly of late. All the while, the Cubs sweep the Brewers and then take another series against the Buc's. They now lead the division by 5 games. It's just got to be frustrating to be a 2nd place Sox fan.

Oh, and i KNOW this is the wrong section on the board. I just don't care. The Sux dropping into 2nd place WILL BE a topic for discussion today, no doubt, as will the Cubs and their latest winning series.

oh fuck you're stupid
