uh... i agree with him? didnt we just go 4 years of not being ready q1 of the season, sometimes so bad the team gives up in october?

I guess this is why Johnson started with the 2nd team.

Over/Under on players Poles picks up after final cuts?

I'd set the number at 2 1/2 and take the over. I think the bears will add 3 players that are cut by other teams.

Interesting that the Bernstein/Holmes/Parkins acolytes focus on the footbally nature of the new HC.

You must realize that he is coaching guys that...are not exactly the brightest people in the world, so using simple acronyms/concepts likely works best for this group. There is of course the fact that all of you fell madly in love with the offensive genius known as Matthew Nagy, who you all thought was some type of revolutionary genius, remember your leader Daniel Bernstein saying repeatedly that Nagy, "get it", and how it was so nice to, "have a smart guy as the Bears HC".

We're supposed to have confidence in the Bears chances because Lance threw three interceptions in a practice?

Three interceptions is like one drill's worth of work for Fields.

The 49ers are hiding him. He looked awful last year and generally gets a pass because of his overrated coach.

The 49ers are going to do the same thing with Lance that the Bears are going to do with Fields.

Yup, expecting the Niners to come out and pound the ball right at the middle of the Bears defense and see how they hold up.

There is a definite lack of talent/depth at DT and once you get past Roquan the LB roster is pedestrian at best.

H.I.T.S. sounds like one of those coachspeak concepts that will quietly be quietly mocked until the coach is on the hot seat at which time it will be openly mocked

Sadly, the acronym lies perilously close to S.H.I.T.S., which is likely what we'll be calling it by midseason.

I can only aspire to be an acolyte. I need to commit to the HITS philosophy in all aspects of my life.

On another note...This news might cause pain for some.

Dan Wiederer
@danwiederer
For whatever it's worth, the Bears' depth chart in this week's game release still lists Riley Reiff as the starter at RT and Michael Schofield as the starter at RG.

The next two weeks provide great intrigue into where Larry Borom and Teven Jenkins might slot.

A few weeks ago, after the latest Poles' signing was arrested, Rosenbloom suggested it stands for He's In The Slammer.

Fields needs to be a guy who makes his teammates better. He has 17 games to prove he can be that kind of player.

Fuck Martz. I highly doubt whatever he is doing in life that he has spent enough time watching Fields or the Bears to have an informed opinion.

Do you disagree with this? ‘‘I think he’s a talented guy as a passer,’’ Martz wrote. ‘‘But you don’t know how to evaluate him because he just doesn’t have anything around him.’’

I dont think you are grasping what I am saying. I dont disagree with Martz. I just do not give a fuck what his opinion is. He is an arrogant blowhard that was blessed to have Warner, Faulk and the greatest show on turf and they all made him look like some genius.

Outside of Ron Turner, I thought he was Lovie's best offensive coordinator. Cutler's injury against the Chargers killed a promising season.

That is not a high bar.

17 games? 4 games in I think people will make their decision. If the Bears aren't 2-2 or better or if at least Fields isn't showing improvement coaches and the front-office will write him off and start planning for the next guy.

Don't know if it's because it wasn't something necessary at Ohio State or if it's lack of reps with his receivers, but saw a video break down of Fields from last season and they showed over and over that Fields would never throw guys open or anticipate receiver's cuts. Fields waits until the receivers make their turns or cut backs before releasing the ball and that gives the defenders time to recover.

Yup, the new group has shown they will move along quickly from guys that are not producing Irregardless of who they are or where they were drafted.

If the wheels completely fall off and they are drafting in the top 5, they will be in a good position to take another shot at a franchise QB.

I think Poles has already started planning for the next guy. That doesn't mean he's going to follow through on them.

So if Fields is bad through the first 4 games--which he almost assuredly will be--you're saying that Poles is done with him even if he has a much better second half of the season? Wow.

 Fields could play quite well and the Bears will still be drafting in the top 5.

If you think Poles is moving on from Fields in 4 games, that's insane.
