stylized biography told more from the perspective of Colonel Tom Parker. I'm not one of these Elvis nuts, but I like the guy. I see him mostly as a big, stupid Teddy Bear with an incredible talent who was easily manipulated. It didn't get into the excesses of Elvis, which would be fun.

Hanks is usually pretty great. I don't think he knew how to play this role. He wasn't consistent with his accent. The hair and makeup looked fake, like Fat Bastard.

The guy who played Elvis was excellent and so was his momma.

I know we will get a crew of Elvis detractors in here that he stole his act, was a pedo and blah, blah blah. The movie is worth a watch. At the very least if features a man in a cape who isn't a crime fighter.

Watched it Sunday night. This movie could have and should have been way better. Narration was stupid. Picking Col. Tom Parker as the narrator was even worse. Way too much of an attempt to be artsy and creative as opposed to just telling the story. I was highly disappointed.

Started it last night. Guy who plays Elvis is great. Spot-on about Hanks going in & out of accent.

On a side note, I had no idea Parker was Dutch. I was only vaguely aware of who he was and most of that is based on an episode of The Simpsons.

Had every intention of seeing it in the theater, but did not make it. Going to check it out soon.

Kind of sad my mom is not around to watch it with. She was a huge Elvis fan and she would have loved to see a movie about him.

I saw it a few days ago. It was ok but more for people who liked moulin rouge and Chicago and all that crap, I think it was the same director. Apparently Elvis wore blush and lipstick, who would have known.

I'm guessing I will check it out eventually on HBO Max. I like Elvis just fine but don't know all that much about his story.

Chuck D had it right: "mother f@ck him and John Wayne ". Two of the biggest frauds of the last century.

But at least Wayne wasn't a thief like the pedophile Elvis.

I love Elvis.

I got my first professional job because I looked a bit like Elvis.

The movie was good. A bit long.

I didn't always look this way. When you were 4, I had darker hair.

No doubt that a young Dr Ken sported a beautiful, luscious head of hair. I still can't see the Elvis comparison though.

I still have a beautiful, luscious head of hair. It's ridiculous how good I look.

I don't want you to see the comparison. The ones that matter did.

I've growing increasingly tired of Tom Hanks and his corny, schlocky movies about things that bore the hell out of me.

This doesn't help.

Tomorrow RR will complain about red stripes on candy canes and roses smelling too sweet.

Sheesh.

His Mr. Rogers movie was arguably the worst thing ever made anywhere ever.

Netflix probably wishes he would.

Rollins Collins alum, Fred Rogers, after flunking out of Dartmouth; which makes sense because my rich AF college gf's younger sister attended Rollins and we used to go there for parties. Excellent parties. Not as good as Ringling Clown College of Design or whatever, but still pretty good.

I agree on Tom Hanks...he's been mailing it in for quite a few years. Time for him to ride off into the sunset.

I thought he was fantastic in Captain Phillips.

I am about half way through it and struggling to finish it. I thought I would really enjoy it, but not so much so far.

I watched this about a month ago now, it was so meh I forgot to comment about it in this forum. There were some semi-interesting moments in there. I thought the guy playing Elvis was pretty good. I learned a bit about Colonel Tom, assuming that most of it was true. Just didn't think this movie necessarily lent itself to the Baz Luhrmann treatment. Worked great in Moulin Rouge. I'd have to re-watch Romeo and Juliet. I caught The Great Gatsby earlier this year and I didn't like his treatment of that either. Too visually spastic for my likes.

Finally catching this tonight. Why does Hanks do Colonel with a German accent?
