Nobody needs to take a step back to take the North. That's been evident for a while.

The first team to stop taking a step back will win it.

Don't root for draft picks, Nas, you're better than that.

Sometimes you have to take a step back in order to take the North for the next decade.

Only for a decade? You're settling. Poles said the Bears would never give it back.

That line will look very different when Patrick can play center.

The line will look very different next year when they get a new C, RT, and LT.

A competent GM would have taken care of that in 2022.

Not with the limited resources that were available. Patrick will at least be able to square up and not get bull rushed like Mustipher.

The problem with the NFL is that everyone sees your weakness, and the Bears have many, most notably being soft up the middle on defense. The rookie LT will continue to get inside power rushes until he learns how to bend and lock out, but the book on him was that he needed a year of NFL level strength work, so you see the evidence that he is not ready on nearly every down, more concerning to see Borom get shoved back as you would think a guy stout enough to play G would be able to square up and take on a bull rush. Reiff must be hurt or done like Olin keeps alluding to in his podcast, but they likely want to get a good look at the kid they just picked up from Alabama once he gets back from mono.

The line will look drastically different next year, highly likely that several of the guys that started Sunday night are backups or not even in the league next season.

The all-22 is highlighting how much Fields sucked. Guys were open.

If Jenkins is clearly your best run blocker, why would you have Lucas Patrick at RG on a crucial goal line play?

Yeah he did.

But even with that if Fields cuts to the right over Jones he gets into end zone

Yeah, but the play was designed to go to the left.

Nagy’s dipshit goal line plays with the defense in usually worked too.

Maybe. I honestly couldn't tell from the TV replays. It was correct to leave it as "Call stands" IMO, which is different than "call confirmed"

That play reminded me of something Moose said in week one when the 49ers were making dumb penalties. "Don't put yourself in a position where the ref might throw a flag on you."

Bears should not have put themselves in a position where they are relying on technology to see if perhaps, maybe 1/10th of an inch of the ball might have just barely crossed the front of the plane.

Bears ran roughshod over the Pack for almost that entire drive. Get under center and pick up the 18.". If you want to go out of shotgun and run a legit play, that's fine too if you have something that you think will work. A QB draw on 4th & <1 is ridiculous though.

I can’t believe they didn’t call the play where Fields walked untouched into the end zone and instead called the play they knew would require an official review to award them a touchdown.

A bit unfair. We've all seen simple but clever plays to move the ball a few inches into the end zone.

Yeah and a quarterback sneak under center has the best 4th and short conversion rate, but that doesn’t make it any less likely to not need a review to confirm it.

Something tells me the Pack would be more prepared for a Fields bootleg than Manning, but that goes back to just saying why didn’t the Bears call something that worked instead of something that didn’t?

Really interesting to watch the play one blocker at a time. Overall, it's clear the Bears as a whole got pushed back entirely.

- Braxton Jones fell down and didn't block ANYONE
- Kmet was carried by Jarran Reed #90 who was the primary one to take down Fields. Jarren Reed is 307lbs v. 260lb.
- Montgomery does throw a nice block on #91 Preston Smith. That's 224 lbs v. 265 lbs. Preston Smith doesn't get knocked over and is there at the end to push the pile back. Credit him with the assist.

Not sure how the play was designed to run, but when your 310 lb Left Tackle falls down without blocking anyone....it's not going to end well. Kmet got manhandled but that's huge a mismatch.

Yeah, but HE SCORED ON THAT PLAY IRREGARDLESS. Once again, the Bear's got screwed by the officials throughout that game.

Kmet dropped his head and got beat so badly that he was shoved back into the pulling guard so far that is straightened up and slowed the guard to the point he could not get to his assignment.

Play works with competent NFL level execution, unfortunately you do not have that on this team at this point in time.

Kmet is rapidly playing his way into a backup role.

Kmet is a 260 lb tight end. He was left to handle the 307 lb defensive lineman. You want your TACKLE blocking that guy, not your tight end.

Kmet sucks, but Braxton Jones blew that play more than Kmet did.
