Many of Bear fan told me the worry was that Getsy would be SO successful that the Bears would have to worry about losing him to a head coaching gig next year.

Good point. Or maybe Gary Crowton who's currently an OC for a high school football team. He might take the Olin Kreutz rate.

Or they could hire the QB guru that Bernstein had on yesterday who's so sharp that he's flown under the radar of all 32 NFL teams and all 254 FBS/FCS teams.

I'm not saying anything about this dude at this point. I do think it's lazy to gravitate toward OCs/offensive coaches who ride HoF QBs to greatness. You could have replaced Getsy with a potted plant last year and Rodgers still would have did what he did and made the playoffs.

I think teams that succeed at scoring with mediocre or less QBs/personnel are more worth a look.

McVeigh with Goff at QB comes to mind. Shannahan with Jimmy G. Etc.

Let's tap the brakes a bit here, gonna take more than two weeks to fix the mess left by Nagy/Pace.

If he gets this offense out of the bottom 5 it will be similar to Nas coaching up Caller Bob enough to make more than one flavor of Bears Kool-Ade, a nearly impossible task.

The offense is even worse than Nagy, (if that was possible)

Getsy not calling plays seems the bigger concern to me. He’s got about half the resume of Adam Gase and less talent to work with.

However, if Getsy is able to unlock Fields and moves the offense from bottom five to top 15, he is likely a HC somewhere soon.

"would be a head coach" is a lot different than saying, " IF X, Y, and Z happens..." genius Bob. And that is one quote, not MANY.

If the Bears end 2022 with a top 12 offense and Fields is a pro bowler, would it surprise anyone if Getsy got an interview or two for a HC position? I high doubt the former will happen, but anything is possible in today's NFL.

The sands of time are running out on Getsy. He's going to get the lions share of the blame the rest of the season.

I don't think this is even close to true. At worst he is like 4th on the blame chart. Poles. Eberflus. Fields. All are above him. And if you watch any of the breakdown films you can see that his system is getting bad WRs open and he has done some really good things in the running game.

This seems about right to me currently. He called a great play to get the TE open and Fields screwed up the throw. Some of the angles that Herbstreit was breaking down last night proved multiple times that there were guys wide open. They may only have half a step on the defense but that is what you are going to get in the NFL, which is where his accuracy comes into question. This isn't Ohio State where your receivers are much better than the corners almost every week.

You're missing my point. I'm not talking about what actually is occurring and I'm not saying he deserves the blame. But, that's what is going to be coming from the local and national media. He's going to be the sacrificial lamb after this season.

I get what you are saying, but still disagree. A lot of folks may get some heat as this season goes along, but Getsy is not going to get enough to even be concerned about. Everyone in this regime is going to be back next year if they want to be.

Agreed. Getsy is scheming guys open. Fields isn't throwing it and when he does passes get dropped too often. I thought he called a good game last night for the most part. I'm more bullish on Getsy than I am Fields at this point. If he can get these clown WRs open with these bums on his OLine, he could have a lot of fun with some real weapons.

near top of list of most sacked qbs despite fewest attempts
longest average snap to throw time

fields isnt processing fast enough.

since none of these offensive skill players are long term answers anyway, maybe it's time to cater the offense to the qb's skill set? I actually enjoy the TNF post game panel of ex players. those guys were begging getsy to not force fields to be a pocket passer.

That third and one while driving in the second half where Fields was sacked was terrible. Not going 2 minutes with under 6 to go was a tactical mistake

Getsy may be a better playcaller than Paul Hackett so he's got that going for him.

Yeah I saw the Fitz get the expected backlash for suggesting that the black qb isn’t a pocket passer . Athlete , runner , racist !!!
