Ok that is pretty interesting I guess. Waiting to see how the first two episodes of Kenobi are, maybe as early as tomorrow morning.

What did you think Disney was going to do after buying the franchise for $4 billion.

This kicks off Sept 21st with the first 3 episodes available. I believe it has the same director as the Rogue One movie which gives me a lot of hope. Apparently there will be 2 seasons with 24 total episodes. Season one set 5 years before Rogue One.

yeah, Disney apparently sent him the original concept they had for the show and he told them it sucked and they should do it this way and then got more and more involved. I like Rogue One so I'm looking forward to it.

Setting nostalgia aside, Rogue One is the second best Star Wars movie.

Rogue One was excellent....and I'm not a big Star Wars junkie.

Not sure if it's not the best if I was able to completely remove the nostalgia but that's not happening.

Drops tomorrow. I have read almost universally positive reviews. One reviewer mentioned 1st two episodes being slow but 3 and 4 being just incredible. We will see. I think it will be good.

Most of the Disney Marvel/Star Wars shows aren’t paced very well so that’s not surprising. I also think Rogue One is the best SW movie since the original trilogy, but that being said I could use some more fun in Star Wars stuff, at least the live action shows. It’s all too grimdark. I get it, the eras they’re in are supposed to be shitty with the Empire in charge, but they were also in charge in the original Star Wars and that was fun (and obviously more importantly, good).

Caught the first 3 between this morning and during lunch. I thought it was a solid start. Good character development. Not much action the first few episodes but gets going in #3.

I just finished Clone Wars. It was good, Rebels even better in my opinion.

Edit — I guess I have the final season the go. The first episode was called The Bad Batch so I thought I was done and it was starting The Bad Batch series.

For a show that (and this is a me problem, not an Andor problem) has one of my biggest TV turn offs, knowing no matter what that the main character is going to live through this show/movie AND they're killed off already in some other show/movie, it was amazing. It's not a high bar, but (for 3 episodes at least) it is far and away the best written Disney+ Marvel/Star Wars show yet. There's a lot to be said for releasing the 1st 3 episodes at once though, it wouldn't have worked the same way waiting a week, but like i said in a previous post, they haven't mastered the pace of these episodic shows yet.

Does this make sense if you haven't watched She-Hulk first?

i enjoyed the first 3 episodes. the best SW is when its telling like, street level stories and seeing the impact of the Empire or the corporate security forces on overwatch until the empire takes full control

It was really smart to release the first three episodes at once because I'm not sure I would have been excited to watch it a week later without the third episode.

Another solid episode and the tension is building. I would have thought they would have done the raid in this episode but it should all go down next week. What you get to do with a longer series is build the characters up a bit more so you are more invested in them.

You like Star Wars? Hell yes.
You think that Star Wars has too many battles? Hell yes.
You want to watch a bunch of people talk quietly to each other at a time when Darth Vader is still alive but you don't really get to see him? Hell yes.

Well, I've got the show for you.

Do you even watch the show or are you just here to stir the pot per usual? Personally I like them slowing things down a bit and not falling into the usual Star Wars formula. I like that is has nothing to do with Skywalker or Darth Vader at this point. Always felt that there were a lot more stories to tell within the Star Wars Universe than making sure everything connected to those two. It isn't likely going to appeal as much to a casual fan.

I haven't seen episode 5 yet. It's a good show so far.

The last series had a ton of Vader and it was dog food.

It's nice they're not rushing from action set piece to action set piece and actually building, you know, tension. Now that only works if the build up actually adds to to the tension and is interesting (it has/been) and the action piece pays off (the first one in the 3rd episode did). The world building remains top notch and the set design is elite, which is expected when you hire the Chernobyl production designer. Somehow I'm kinda thinking/hoping Mon Mothma's dinner party will have just as many fireworks as Andor's heist.

Saw the latest episode showing the heist this morning. I thought it was a pretty good payoff overall with a surprise near the very end I didn't see coming. They kind of left the episode in an awkward spot so have no idea where it will go from here but overall, the wait was worth it in my mind and there was quite a bit of tension built into the action. I think part of what I like about this series is that they are really humanizing some of the characters, especially the ones from the Empire, to be more than mindless drones. They actually have personalities that are potentially likeable or unlikeable, they have families in some cases.

I don’t want to continuously blow this show, but it’s just great. I like how for this episode it was just the heist. No jumping to Coruscant for the B plot, just the heist.

Here’s a complaint though, for as good as R1 was, this show makes me mad that Disney fucked with the movie and it could have been even better. There were always rumblings that they really sanitized actions of the resistance/rebellion. It was supposedly more terroristy but Disney changed it. Now it didn’t really bother me much at the time because that doesn’t mean it would have been a better movie, but seeing how well written it is in Andor I want the original vision. Funny though that the thing that did present the Rebellion in a bad light in R1, Andor just shooting an unarmed dude to keep his cover, has happened twice already in the show.
