So the King Poles fans here will tell you the reason Fields has no weapons to throw to is because of the impossible situation he was put into thanks to Ryan Pace, well lets look at a couple of nice players that could have helped Fields

George Pickens, myself and others were screaming for the Bears to draft this guy in the second round BEFORE the draft. Pickens numbers would be even better but he is behind two great receivers in Pittsburgh(hey what a novel concept, a GM giving the QB multiple weapons!) The Bears passed on him TWICE, in the 2nd round. Did we really need two DBs? Brisker looks decent, but I can't help but think this team would be better with Brisker and Pickens instead of the ballerina turned corner.

Amari Cooper, MANY thought was done in Dallas but he looked very good last night, still has juice in the tank. Dallas practically gave him away.

George Pickens has injury and character red flags. He has 5 catches for 65 yards in three games this year. That is Equanimious St. Brown level production. You are focused on this guy because of reports of a good training camp. They drafted a guy they really liked in the third round. They may be wrong but who knows at this point. Pickens has 65 more yards than an injured Velus.

I think he really missed out in free agency where a lot of guys signed low cost, one year deals. He could have given Fields more reliable help without screwing up things for next year. I think some players like Kirk signed huge deals early and Poles got spooked.

The Bears' "no 1" WR has two catches for four yards. 5 catches for 65 yards in this context is HOF production. We need WR help, we've known about it forever, and Poles ignored it. Fuck him.

That would make him the Bears #1 Wide Receiver

Again Bob, you don't seem to understand how football works.

If he isn't getting targets because of other receivers being great, then he ain't getting open against single coverage with CB's that are Kindle Vildor types.

And as dolphin said, 5 for 65 does not a beast make.

There is only 1 football on the field, you do understand that right? Pickens would be probably be the Bears #1 WR right now.

At GTFO comparing him to Equanimeous St. Brown, let me know when that chump can make a catch like this

Yeah, and if he was matched up against #1 corners with no other receivers worth worrying about it's entirely possible he has the same numbers as Mooney

I'd still take Sky Moore over Pickens if I were required to only draft a WR from the players available at the time the bears picked...and he hasn't done much either....Watson hasn't looked good. Tyquan Thornton is hurt...and on and on.

I didn't love the Velus pick but after seeing all the WR picked before him in the 2nd and early 3rd, I wouldn't say I'd rather have those players after a pre season and three whole regular season games.

Maybe Poles should focus on putting talented, high upside receivers next to Mooney instead of retreads like St. Brown, Pringle, Pettis, etc.

Lost a 50/50 in the end zone right before the 2:00 warning.

Tried to one hand it again. If he uses two hands, he has a TD.

Maybe Cole Kmet will have 5 catches and 65 yards by the time November rolls around.

The Cowboys dumped Cooper because they knew he wasn't worth $20M a year.

They are also paying their QB and RB near max deals while the Bears have their QB and RB on rookie deals.

Ehy should the Bears overpay for a WR who doesn't have an expiring deal? They could have kept A-Rob if that was the case.

I'm suggesting Poles should attempt to put decent weapons around Fields.

His job is easier if Fields turns out to be good.. so I don’t see why people believe this.

Exactly! He has potentially 4 years left on his rookie deal.

Poles' 2nd year plan works best with a good to great Fields. Especially considering the Bears control Fields at a reasonable rate for 3 more seasons.

Poles probably has this one shot at being a GM, so he decides to purposely sabotage his 23 year old QB after ten NFL starts.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Pace didn’t leave him with much, and overpaying for guys like Robinson or Watkins doesn’t seem smart to me as 1st moves in year 1 of a really shit team to begin with.

I definitely would have liked to see a receiver drafted with their 1st pick but they did draft one at least eventually.. I don’t know what to think of Poles yet, but purposely trying to sabotage his QB and the team as a whole doesn’t seem likely to me. Like I said, his job is easier and he looks a lot better if Fields is good.

Throwing away a season and letting a QB drown isn't a good developmental plan.

It's possible he think Fields is a bum, can't win with him and wants to redraft the position in 2023. That's alot easier to sell the worse Fields is in 2022.

Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that by trading Cooper for a fifth-round draft pick, the Cowboys ended up with significant salary cap savings that will improve the team in the future.

“The issue with Amari Cooper was how much we were paying him and what we could do with that money, completely. Amari Cooper is a real good player. Top player,” Jones said, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News

Poles can still re-draft and trade Fields for even more picks/assets if that was the case. I guess that's too complicated for Bob to understand though.
