Biggs just pointed out that Davis Mills is much better at home (14TD/1INT) than on the road (4TD/9INT), so I'm going to adjust my game prediction:

Texans 42
Bears 8

the theory was we’re not giving up the long ball and you’ll have to dink and dunk your way down the field but we think we’ll either be able to take the ball away before you can get all the way down the field, or force the quarterback into being impatient and forcing one that will be intercepted. If Fields stays patient the short throws will be there.

This is probably the most accurate, yet concise description of Lovie Smith's Cover 2 defense....we all lived it for several years and know it, but this summs it up perfectly.

Patience isn't his problem, though. It's seeing the openings and releasing the ball quickly. In the words of Mike Martz, he's not a read and react guy.

Yep....agreed.

This game will give a good indication about where Fields is as an NFL QB.

It absolutely will.....W / L isn't the big thing here. Fields has to be able to show some passing production in this game.

I know everyone wants to throw the ball but the running game will dominate...probably for both teams. Actually, both teams play defense that is happy to give up field goals so the kickers will be the stars.

Bears 15
Texans 9

Game will be the first noon kickoff that ends.

Unless it's tied 9-9 at the end of regulation

Idk if the cover 2 is the right or wrong defense to test Field's capacity to make completions.

Glass half full: cover 2 takes away the long ball but gives up short passes. Maybe Fields builds confidence by completing 5-7 yard passes in succession and gets into a groove. Possibly hits 10+ yarders.

Glass half empty: Fields tries to air it out deep and gets screwed by the cover 2. Confidence is shot and he sucks the whole game.

Cover 2 let’s offenses pick up yards until they make a mistake. I have complete faith in Fields and the Bears offense making plenty of mistakes.

20 to 10 bears. Fields attempts 13 passes and only 2 get picked off. Kmet and Mooney BOTH get more than zero yards this week.

This is a coin flip game but the bears will lose. They are incapable of stopping an above average runner and they will be fed a heaping helping of Dameon Pierce. Pierce scores twice. Jaylon Johnson locks down Cooks but yields a TD anyway. Nico Collins is left to test Gordon and also scores. Getsy understands the immediate need to get the pass game going and dials up 30+ pass plays. Probably one score to Kmet after many juicy runs by Monty/Herbert. Possibly a running TD by Fields. Many 3 and outs leading to two bears FG.

Texans 28
Bears 20

Excuses fly and we all are mad.

His o/u on yards is a pathetic 167. Might have to jump on the over.

Bears 24

Bears offense looks a bit better but need a defensive TD to win.

Theyre just cutting the Texans some slack before they unleash the Kraken that is Justin Fields passing the football.

Not really, Fields has been wild high even on his completion. He has to calm down and get a rhythm before they can push it.

Yeah, I thought one of his throwaways could have been completed.

That's one of the dumbest penalties Fields could commit.
