girardi's last season at $3 million...he's got to go. pull the plug now. the $169 million dollar payroll phillies are in a shambles. 12 1/2 games behind the mets, the pirates have a better percentage and will equal the phillies' 21 wins if they hold on against the dodgers tonight.
tonight, jean segura, a talent who seems more interested in his coiffures than refining his talent, fractured his finger when he tried to bunt. rule of thumb is to let ball hit bat, not finger. joe has put himself into a trick-bag with his 'no reliever pitches 3 days in a row' rule. he pitched domiguez 1 pitch, the next day 12 pitches. the 3rd day, 'no use' domiguez was relaxing in the bullpen while bellatti got crushed by the giants in extra innings yesterday.
tonight, domiguez was the only effective phillie reliever at 1 2/3 innings, no hits/no walks/2 Ks/no runs and bellatti was taken 415 feet by joc pederson in the 11th. phillies lose again.
gone. the way the phillies were losing games this year - you knew that mgnt. had to be considering relieving him. they made that decision today.
it's amazing this club is 1 game away from the w.s. really impressive hitting line-up, girardi cost me a few $$ with his nonsense (refusing to pitch relivers on consecutive days, even if the pitcher threw 8 pitches the day before) and the subsequent firing and rise of the post-girardi phillies, makes girardi look plenty bad. he's won the ws as a player and manager, just cashing a check in philly. years and years we've seen good hitting line-ups freeze in the cold, wind and rain. these guys keep hitting.
they canned him after some 55 games and it was a gold move.
