Joe Maddon would be TLR #2.

I don't see how you can compare Bochy to LaRussa. Bochy managed the Giants up until 2019. That is not that long ago. LaRussa had been out of the dugout for 10 years and was about 10 years older than Bochy when he took over the Sox.

He's been out of the game for four years. I guess he isn't hated by The Woke though.

This has nothing to do with Woke anything.

The 10 years LaRussa was out of the game things changed a lot. The game was very different.

The time that Bochy has been gone has not been nearly as different.
This. Attributing anyone who disliked the hire of TLR to his politics is both lazy and (in most cases) wrong.

He knows baseball like a motherfucker but he's problematic because he thinks you should stand for the anthem and he made Slugger of Color Yermin Mercedes cry.

In his last official duty as manager LaRussa had him deported from Martha's Vineyard.

The Score's reception to LaRussa was obviously ideologically driven from the beginning to the end of his tenure as White Sox manager.

Suggesting that all criticism of LaRussa is due to his Left Wing Politics is a lazy narrative. And I say this as a guy that was on board with his hiring from the beginning and still believe that he was nowhere near the single biggest problem associated with the team.

Ageism was the tool of MANY who were disappointed Uncle Jerry overruled Hahn when he wanted to hire Cheating Hinch. I liked Hinch too. Uncle Jerry was right.

When Hahn made shrewd moves, the media went out of their way to tell us that Hahn was in charge. Now that his incompetence and pouting have been on display for the past 2 years, we're being told that he's forced to collaborate with Uncle Jerry and his black son. If the Sox were cutting his balls off, and he didn't quit, it's an indictment of Hahn as a man.

Hahn is a bum, he has no idea how to build a team. You picked up Kimbrel's option of 1yr to trade it for 2yrs of Polluck..... Fuck off with that shit. You gave Leury a 3yr fucking deal....

I agree. I'm not a fan of Kenny by any means, but it can't be that everything that works out well is Hahn and everything that breaks bad is Kenny.

TLR's downfall was his weakness and fear dealing with POC players.

Correct. There's no players leading. Leading what? See the ball, hit the ball, catch the ball, pitch the ball? If players led, they'd be in the old man's office changing his lineup.

The fact that MANY believe hiring a HOF manager was a mistake should illustrate just how meaningless managers are. Managers really only exist to give fans something to complain about. Let the shortstop make out the lineup card.

It probably says more about our know it all media. Hiring one of the best managers in history should never be considered a terrible idea. The media believes a young order taker is best. That's what new age managing is. "What does the analytics manual say I should do?"

I don't either because the team leader is the manager. By definition.

The Sox were who their record said they were under TLR. A non-competitive playoff appearance and a .500 team. If having a HoF manager is so cool I assume Sox fans would have wanted him back next year.

I like how it's been ground down to, "he's a HOF manager". Like that's it. That's all you have to know. Like everybody was 100% on board with the hire... It was closer to 5%.

Well, MANY fans are influenced by the media.

No one looks at the lack of success that the Hinch has had in Detroit. He was the alternative. I would argue TLR maximized the potential of his injury riddled lineup of DH hitters.

He did a wonderful job with the 4th best odds on favorite to win the WS. Especially April and May.

Now that's not to say I didn't know they were flawed, terminally flawed, but he was just awful. There were a dozen team killing decisions and non-decisions he made early on that were inexcusable.

He ‘managed’ well last year with his roster of replacement players. The team was outclassed by Houston in a series I’m still not sure happened, as I wasn’t there to witness the games. His team blew this year under the same circumstances. Add in the baffling decisions and he was a net failure.

Hahn also deserves the boot given his inability/unwillingness to address the obvious holes in the roster revealed in the maybe-didn’t-happen Houston series. Williams too, but that’ll never happen.
