All the talk is about tanking badly enough to secure the first overall pick for the Bedard kid who is supposed to be one of the best prospects in years.

It is unlikely he gets traded until the trade deadline. Going rate for a pure rental seems to be a 1st, which will be a pick in the 20s, and a quality prospect. Kane won't return a blue chip prospect. Those players just don't get traded.

Whatever it is, it's not going to be enough, but you have to give him what he wants...he's earned that.

LeBrun reporting the Hawks have signed Andreas Athanasiou and Max Domi to 1 year contracts at $3 million.

I thought they just got back the Keith hit as he retired?

plus Toews is still $10 million per year.....good luck to them finding a taker on that.

Guys they can flip at the deadline for some draft picks if they play well this season.

It is gonna be bad for a minimum of 3yrs if not 5yrs. I would really like to see what they get for Kane. The haul might propel the rebuild a little faster.

One of the most blatant tank jobs you will see, they must think they can pull it off and get the Bedard kid.

Wonder how they sold losing tens of millions in attendance and ad revenue to Wirtz in an effort to finish last and then win the draft lottery for the number one pick, odds of this all working out are not good, unless the NHL makes sure the ping pong balls bounce the right way at the draft lottery.

I think 5.4M this year, less than 2M next year.

i've followed athanasiou's career a bit. fast, exciting...but, plays soft - will fight when provoked, no defense. hit or miss, good $3 million risk.

Getting antsy.
Watched "Names on the Cup" (again) instead of Bears-Packers.

They had a prospects weekend with Minnesota. Got to see a bunch of the young guys play. Lost Friday night 5-2 but won Sunday 5-0. Doesn't tell much but you can see why certain guys were drafted and you can see their philosophy.

hung in there for 2 periods against the blues. hawks' #2 goaltender not the greatest of games. #1 pick korchinski looks legit....caught up on one rush and found himself with a great chance in close. kane-athanasiou looked dangerous.

I can live with "fun bad" for a couple of years.

And that Savoie guy was up in everyone's business, too. Kind of Andrew Shaw-like.

Korchinski with a beautiful saucer pass from inside his blueline to Reichel at the offensive blueline for a breakaway goal.
Too bad the kid is only 18 and needs to bulk up. Looks really good through the 1st 2 games.

Korchinski can really skate. I have been impressed with what I've seen so far.

Yuck. I usually don't care where players go and wish them well but that would suck.

Agreed. I could stomach any other team but Boston. Please...NO.

I listened to the WGN feed of the first period of the Avalanche opener. Late start due to the banner raising ceremony so a 10pm puck drop in Chet-land. I got to 2-1 late in the first and eventually drifted off to sleep during a commercial.

The bad news is they gave up 4 power play goals. Mrazek is going to get his brains beaten in. The good news is that they scored two power play goals of their own, because for the last few years the power play seemed pretty bad.

There were four or five guys I've never heard of, I'm not even sure when they picked them up. Some big dufus defenseman, a guy named Buddy, a singer who played for the Avalanche last year, and probably a guy from Deerfield.

Tuned in for the 2nd. Effort is there I think maybe but we aren't going to be competitive.
