Both of these guys gush over Fields and swear he's a star (Dilfer at least). Are these guys for real or are they hyping Fields up because it's good for their continued on-air exposure and relationships with radio stations?

I don't know If Fields will be a "star" or not. A lot goes into that and a lot of people throw out adoration or adulation for professional athletes way too early. But one thing is clear to me and that is Fields has more natural talent at the quarterback position than anyone I have ever seen on the Bears. I know that that can be considered faint praise. :drunken:

Keep your "natural talent" and give me a QB who makes good quick decisions and is throws accurately.

Agreed.. it's all we heard for Cutler.. e throws the ball real hard( to the cornerbacks) and is athletic as hell. Same with Mitch.. athletic as hell.. can't process his reads and read a zone defense.

Aikman is one of the luckiest players in the past 40 years.

Ridiculous. You are too young to remember Aikman's prime. Stats for QBs from different eras are not comparable. Otherwise Kenny Stabler and Terry Bradshaw were awful.

Aikman wasn’t throwing TDs on “and goal” situations like todays qbs are. Emmitt was blasting them in.

Bradshaw was garbage, Aikman had the best O line ever assembled, no salary cap. The team was loaded on both sides of the ball.

Lol. Just trying to mentally prepare you for the Jordan Love era. Could have been the Rodgers - Pittman era...

You’re right about those cowboy teams. How does that make Aikman suck?

Did you actually watch Aikman play during his prime? I know you didn't watch Bradshaw or Stabler.

Cmon dude, he was the ultimate game manager, averaged about 15 or 16tds a year.. career high was 24 and he had 15 ints that year.

I watched Aikman, not Bradshaw.. but it was never good to throw interceptions and always good to score TDs for as long as the game was invented..he was benched a couple times.

This Aikman discussion is why “pro football reference” arguments are hilarious. Dude may not have been a top-10 great qb but he most certainly did not “suck”. Cmon, man

I believe Kyle Orton could do his job and that franchise don't skip a beat.

I can't say I saw aikman in his prime.

How do you feel about Favre? Stabler? Jay Cutler? Dan Fouts?

Aikman was lucky to escape with his life the first couple of years with Dallas behind a decidedly NOT good o-line. He was a building block of those cowboy teams that they built around.

Different era from someone who saw the Immaculate reception live and in living color on a 19 inch TV.

QBs were getting the snot hit out of them.

Jaworski got carried off the field and came back to play in the game. He would have been sent to the hospital and been out weeks in 2022.

TEs were blockers first and FBs were a staple. So you had 2 WRs on most plays.

WRs were literally paralyzed after hits. Thanks Jack Tatum.

No one was throwing sidearm.

You state that throwing ints was never good but Favre is the all time leader in that category. The great Fouts threw for 254 tds but also 242 ints with a 59% completion percentage. Cutler threw for 227 tds with only 160 ints with a 62% cp.

How young do you think I am? Also, I'm the guy who thinks Brady took the GOAT crown from Elway. I clearly don't care about the stats.

Favre was better than Rodgers too
