Nobody saw this coming.

But I thought the Bears as 8 point dogs was a joke. Patriots aren't that good. So that was an easy win.

I'm just wondering if this is the biggest defeat in the history of Belicheck at home in New England. And it could have been worse if we punched it in at the end. Which we should have.

I did. I had the Bears +8 and I thought they could win if Fields was just below average. He was better than that.

One thing about this team is they are resilient. Every time it looks like they could quit, in this case after going down 14-10, they just keep coming. They are particularly good in the second half, which I cannot recall a prior Bears team that consistently outplayed the opponents after halftime adjustments.

Kap gushing that "Fields made some good throws". Alex Brown "He's supposed to. He's an NFL quarterback". Nobody's rooting more for him to succeed than me. But, he was ok. Not great. Far from a breakout game. Definite signs of improvement.

A few things.

Dominque Robinson, Brisker, and Gordon all look to be growing each week, Robinson is getting more snaps each game, he's raw as hell, but it looks like a steal in the fifth round.

Jenkins plays with a nasty edge, he should be starting at OG for the next ten years, they may have found at least one offensive lineman.

Fields took a few more easy passes, and Getsy schemed a few guys open, Fields still misses easy throws, but the kid has guts and continues to show flashes, can Getsy fully unlock him?

The D got out of base cover-2 early and sold out against the run, they got gashed a few times, but took away what NE does well.

If the team plays like this the rest of the way they get to 6-7 wins, which would be a monumental coaching job considering the dearth of talent on the roster.

Didn't see this coming, I thought the N.E. defenses would have their way. The O line and Fields looked better, this defense continues to surprise me, the coaching seems competent. Nagy never would have that game with this roster. If they can play like this the rest of the way..maybe 8-9. Wins this year.

This is the kind of game you probably want Fields to have maybe like 70% of the season during his second year. It's a good baseline performance thing imo - solid not spectacular, with some really good stuff mixed in. The rest of the 30% should be a mix of better games and worse games than this. So far the prior games have mostly been worse than this one. So I guess Fields owes the team and himself this same performance at a minimum for most of the way moving forward.

He was more Lamar Jackson than Cam Newton. It was a solid performance. The accuracy problem is concerning.

That's a good way to look at last night. The addition of the designed runs obviously made a huge difference. They seemed to help him play with more confidence and resolve than we've seen in the past. The resilience he showed by bouncing back and making good or great plays directly after making bad or terrible plays was also encouraging. Let's see if he can build on this performance against Dallas.

Yes it is, especially on "easy" throws. As I've said in the past, I don't think he worked on those much, if at all, during his offseason individual workouts. I don't think he'll be able to correct this problem until the upcoming offseason.

i had the bears ML w/ a profit boost, and got +495. just wish i would've thrown a little more on it.

"nobody saw this coming" has been a red flag this weekend especially in the NFL. a lot of upsets. i just followed the money.

Only because he's a more willing pass blocker. I think his pass blocking is overrated too. Outside of his leadership, everything about the kid is overrated. Then you watch the games and see the offense is better when Herbert is in. I believe he leads the NFL in ypa.

You are both right. That short sideways screen for the TD albeit under tremendous pressure was a duck.

I would have agreed last year. Herbert has improved tremendously when it comes to consistently catching the ball. He appears to gain more yards whenever he touches the ball. I'm not sure how long that can be discounted.

Justin Fields looked like an NFL quarterback. Solid performance.

I can't believe what I just saw!

I was more impressed with his poise than anything else. That was encouraging. Especially on the road against a Belichick defense.

Nice win. I went to bed a bit early and am a bit surprised that the stat line doesn't match up with how well I thought he played. Getsy definitely found a rhythm for him though. I think TM mentioned him still struggling with the easy ones. It looks like he 'steers' the ball at times when he has a guy wide open. But, sure looks like the Bears have found their qb for the next decade+.

It was a solid performance, Bob. It's really the first one I've seen from him. I didn't see he was great or dominating, but as Nas said....he showed poise and confidence.

You are missing an important part of his game. Also, the Bears ran the ball the last 8 or so minutes. Most teams would have thrown in a couple of play action passes that would have goosed that passing line. Bears just kept pounding it, all the way to the point of taking a knee at the 1
