Fields had 3 passing TD and a rushing TD. Of his 5 incompletions, one was a throwaway to avoid a sack, and two were dropped very catchable TD passes.

He played well today.

Minor correction: 2 pass TDs and one rushing TD. The 4th TD was a Herbert run. That said, totally agree - it was a good game.

Pardon me.

But yeah if we are midway through the 4th quarter and he has five incompletions and three touchdowns will take it week after week

Yep. I was surprised by the Cowboys offense today. They were impressive. A lot had to do with really bad interior defense.

Not sure what his value is at this point, but no way you get two first-round picks.

Maybe the report was put out by Roquan's guy Saint Omni?

I'd take a #2 (which I think you could get) for Roquan in a heartbeat.

And fun is good.

I think there is one carry difference between the two this year.

That's only because Montgomery essentially missed 2 games. Herbert should be the featured back. Play Montgomery on 3rd down and short yardage situations.

Herbert and Monty seem to compliment each other well. I think if you just used solely or mostly one or the other, neither would have the success separately as they do together.

I don't know if Herbert can be a 25 touches a game guy, but he has played well without Montgomery. At this point, there is no reason Herbert shouldn't get 65% of the carries.

take a little look at the game tape and tell me why Parsons didn't get a sack

Because BOTH backs were chipping him. Truthfully, if he were healthy, I doubt either would have made a difference.

You have to stop clinging to this Montgomery thing. Each week, the eye and the numbers show Herbert should be featured.

Yes he did and I am having a great time watching this immensely talented player becoming a rising star under our very eyes. I also think that the coaching staff is doing its best to protect him from being killed out there with the emphasis on the running game and planned running plays for him.

Me and two coaching staffs. Why do you think they get equal carries each week but Montgomery plays many more snaps?

Eberflus is looking at them with fresh eyes this year with absolutely no investment in Monty.

Not me. The guy is leading the league in tackles. That is saying something. If someone wants to offer a number one and other picks, then sure go ahead and do it. But 2nd round picks don't always become starters in the NFL let alone lead the league in tackles at linebacker.

I guess in hindsight 42 points makes sense.

Dallas has a top 5-7 offensive line
Bears have a bottom 5-7 defensive line

Equals no pressure on a top 5-7 QB

Dallas has a top 5-7 offensive arsenal
Bears have bottom 5-7 defensive mid and backfield

When combined with no pressure on the top 5-7 QB, you're gonna get gashed by all the weapons the cowboys have.

I agree. Montgomery has made some very important first downs and tds this season on plays that I don't think Herbert could do. He is a very strong back who really can move the pile on important 3rd downs.

If Kansas City is serious about trading for Montgomery, I'd do it for a 3rd rounder and Pacheco. The Bear's could use him like they used Cohen a few years ago. Same kind of back. Excellent punt and kick returner also.

Many of those 6-8 yards past the line of scrimmage.

Montgomery is a team leader. That had value when Eberflus arrived. The video showed Montgomery was a better and more willing blocker. Last year Herbert looked lost and tentative. Those things are no longer true.

The past 2 weeks they've essentially split time in the backfield. That wasn't the case earlier in the season. This tells me they're moving towards featuring Herbert. I want them to accelerate that process.

I'm fine keeping Montgomery but he's going to have to accept low money. There's just no way you can pay a running back who averages 3.9 yards a carry, when the league average is 4.5.

I think the league has spoken on RB contracts and the position as a whole, right? Unless you're top 5 the best play is to let the Montgomerys of the world walk and just sign the next guy up to a manageable contract.

They are two different backs. Herbert can't run it up the middle 15+ times a game, and Monty doesn't have the speed or explosiveness to get big gains on the outside. The Bears are wise to keep using them both to compliment each other and their running game overall.

Watched Fred Warner yesterday.

Roquan Smith is no Fred Warner.

Roquan is a good linebacker who will likely be good for the next 4 to 8 years. He's not a great linebacker and never will be.
