Yeah the DB caught up cause he didn't run his route right. Also a true #1 adjusts and maybe plays it back shoulder

Pettis is wide open with at least 10 yards in front of him. The defender caught up because Fields made a shit throw. The only mistake Pettis made was believing Fields could get him the ball if he got WIDE OPEN.

The clock was running down and they were out of timeouts. You couldn't risk a throw short of the end zone and hoping for YAC. Pettis needs to run his route directly to the end zone

They still had 2 timeouts and Pettis was running directly to the endzone. He had tried to adjust to the shit throw.

A good receiver wins the battle for that ball. Pettis is not anywhere near being a good receiver. There was nothing wrong with that pass. There were at least three potential touchdowns in that game that the receivers did not come down with.
