It comes from the NFL in 2024.

Thanks.

Roquan Smith is an undersized finesse LB who can run down guys and make tackles as long as he doesn't think there is even the slightest chance of someone blocking him or potentially blocking him.

He also struggles to keep his emotions in check and has had at least one known mental breakdown that caused him to miss numerous games.

Not really the kind of player you want to invest in because he likely drifts on you from time to time.

He is the type of player teams wanted five or more years ago before the league adjusted and started incorporating the run game to take advantage of undersized finesse LB's. You see these types of guys picking themselves up off the turf with regularity these days after being run over by offensive lineman, they tend to lose interest and begin playing with their head on a swivel after a few series.

He's not as bad as you make him out to be...he will be better (back) in the Raven's 3-4. Off the field you are correct he's a head case.

Any other moves before the deadline? Just spitballing here:

Eddie jackson to Buffalo would make sense, but Buffalo severely lacks cap room to make it happen (they have about 1.5M left).

David Montgomery to the Rams if they think they can make the playoffs and know Akers isn't coming back.

Selfishly I'd like to keep Montgomery since I like him and his game a lot. Guy can run, catch and most importantly pass protect.

I would think they keep Jackson, but trady Montgomery for the right deal.

heard the first of what is not likely to be the last rumblings about a troubling dedication to a healthy nightlife

It wasn't going to end well with him here. He would have thought the bears were low balling him, then, when the market showed the Bears assessment was correct, his ego would have been too big to come back here. Now, someone else can "insult" him with a market rate offer.

Nightclub stuff is so dumb - that's what guys do at his age. As long as it doesn't affect performance then it shouldn't matter.

Honestly, this looks like an UDFA Division 2 linebacker you just decided to throw in an NFL game

Of course that stuff is going to pop up now. Won't be able to be tied back to anyone in the org but it will circulate.

According to anonymous sources close to the Bears, Smith reportedly posted several pictures to social media and allegedly frequented Chicago Bulls games.

You must be watching imaginary football games, he can run, but runs around blocks rather than playing low and shedding the block, if you run right at him, he's useless. You will see him see the gap and quickly skip laterally and vacate the gap once he notices a lineman, FB, or TE coming at him. Go back and watch Singletary, who was not the biggest guy, take on a block and play with leverage to fill the gap.

He works as a third down zone scheme LB who can quickly get to his mark and then rally to make tackles, but you better have 700 pounds of ass in front of him at the DT position to protect his scrawny ass.

I don't expect for 20 year old kids to be Kobe. That being said, it has been clear Roquan wasn't taking care of himself. He was always out of breath, and looked too much like Lance Briggs at 25. That doesn't age well.

The Nagy lockerroom/Club Dub shit may have allowed Roquan to go out and do whatever and merely show up for practice and games. Maybe its a case of old habits die hard, and Eberflus/Poles decided Smith wasn't worth it. I can't blame them.

I doubt Harbaugh is going to be so forgiving. Maybe a new organization lights a fire under him. I don't wish ill upon Smith, but he dug his own grave with the Bears longterm as far as I'm concerned.

He's not really undersized, at 238 that's about where you want your inside linebackers to be, he does tend to play soft at times though. Now Morrow is really undersized, but plays tougher.

And it’s the Ravens #2 if I’m reading this correctly?

Which would make it an even better trade.
