I really admire the Bears approach - whether it works out or not remains to be seen but they are doing something. nice.

I've also been impressed with the coaches. They may have finally got it right! Reminds me of the Cubs rebuild. :drunken:

There goes one of the excuses for Fields.

I think Claypool compliments Field's ability to throw deep. Claypool catches that pass V.Jones dropped last week.

Agreed. I'm not sure if Poles' plan will work. I love how disciplined he is, and his willingness to take calculated swings.

Was claypool anything important to (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky?

Yep. It clear he had a plan all along. He got rid of a lot of shit in a short amount of time. We'll see what happens, but there is reason to be optimistic.

Essentially a Roquan for Claypool swap. Fantastic. Young #1 Wide Receivers are not hitting Free Agency so you had to trade. The draft at WR isn't looking good either. The kid from Ohio State is hurt all the time, the one from LSU has a bad attitude, you basically have the big WR from TCU and that's it.

You can say it, we've been right on Poles from the jump.

And it's so refreshing to have a GM sticking to a plan and not hiding behind his hair gel.

Let's just hope two and a half seasons in Pittsburgh was enough to wipe the Notre Dame stink off him.

i do think they gave up too much for claypool however. I just like the energy behind trying to improve the team through any means necessary, even if it means rolling the dice a little.

I am on the record for being in favor of 6'4" 230 WRs that run 4.4.

Not bad.

Maybe a little. Its not some drastic overpay and they still have a 2nd round pick next year.

Also lets not forget Claypool had Mitch throwing him passes recently so we have to take that into consideration.

I'm glad they are doing something to help out the offense. Would have felt better about it if it was the Ravens 2nd rounder but oh well. I honestly know nothing about Claypool but looks like he has solid numbers the last couple of seasons. If he can be a #1 and let Mooney slide down to a #2 I think that would show some immediate improvement.

Dare I say we may have an actual, smart NFL GM in Poles?

Well, yeah, but a potential #1 receiver with a promising track record is well worth any #2 pick.

Whoa! So Poles essentially traded Smith for Claypool and a 5th??

That's a Jim Finks level move right there.

Is Mooney even allowed to change uniform numbers mid-season?

I don't think so. He may be able to because I don't think there are many Mooney jerseys floating around.

So instead of the Bears drafting #6-7-8 and again #40 or so, they will be picking #6-7-8 and again at 54-55-56?. That's not really bad at all. Lots of talent still on the board late in the second round.

What's a Chase Claypool contract extension going to look like? DK Metcalf? Similar players, stats(Metcalf has more TDs), picked in the same round...

He's done dumb stuff. Have to assume maturity as he ages.
