Jaylon Johnson couldn't cover his grandma today. His bad coverage and stupid penalties cost them the game.

Hard not to say the refs tbh.. they called bad penalties that kept drives alive for Detroit and erased a big momentum swing pick by Sanborn which was an absolutely terrible call. Then there’s the incidental contact downfield knocking Kmet down and no flag (which would have kept the Bears final drive moving).. I’m going refs here

And I think that’s the 1st game in years I’d blame on them too

Fields  no. OL was the worst I have seen this season. OL, Montgomery and Poles for inheriting a potential franchise QB and not surrounding him with protection.

Honorable mention to Luke Getsy for continuing to call QB runs when his QB was clearly hurting.

It's sort of hard to argue that he is the reason that they have lost any of the past 4-5 games.

Falcons were getting pressure with 4 man fronts. When that happens it's squarely on the OLine

He wasn't good today. It's okay to acknowledge that. He was mostly spectacular on the ground for the past month. He needs to grow as a passer. That has nothing to do with bum ass Mustipher.

It's also okay to acknowledge that he wasn't the reason they lost either. Even the Interception at the end of the game was a catchable pass.

I think you both are correct, you're just correct at the same time. Fields definitely exhibited the bad tendency to wait until guys are "open" instead of throwing in anticipation. Reducing the amount of time he holds onto the ball will incrementally make things slightly better. At the same time the line continued to demonstrate why they're substandard.

They had the ball in Falcons territory for a chunk of the game. He played a role in the offense failures.

Other than him, who would you consider to be a playmaker on this roster?

Mooney, Claypool, and Kmet can be playmakers. Herbert can be on on the ground too. The cupboard isn't bare.

Bump. So far I am seeing it was Getsy’s play calling . Those same play calls that resulted in wide open receivers that were never thrown to but nevertheless, this one is on Getsy.

I've always been partial to Brett Favre's maxim that "It's the quarterback's responsibility to overcome bad coaching."

Fields hasn't come close to doing that and is overwhelmingly responsible for the Bears' offensive ineptitude.

But make no mistake about this, Luke Getsy absolutely sucks as an offensive coordinator. To wit:

Josh Shrock wrote:
Wide receiver Darnell Mooney said the Bears' spacing issues Sunday came down to attention to detail and knowing where to line up depending on whether the ball is on the hash or in the middle of the field.

"I think it's just something we just have to continue to talk about with everyone," Mooney said Monday. "Like, the ball is in the middle of the field, or which hash, or whatever it may be. It's just something we have to get back to more detail on where we need to be on the spots-wise, based on where the ball is in the game. Usually, the ball is always on the hash, but the ball was kind of in the middle of the field, so we kind of have to figure out the details on that for sure."

Fields admitted the Bears have "a long way to go." Moore said the offense needs to "go back to the drawing board." Chase Claypool and left tackle Braxton Jones both pointed to mental lapses that severely cost the Bears in Tampa.

Claypool committed a critical offensive pass interference penalty late because he thought the Bears called a run, not a screen. The penalty backed the Bears up to the 6-yard line, and Bucs linebacker Shaq Barrett picked off Fields' screen pass and pushed his way into the end zone to put the final stake in the Bears' heart.

The Bears' offense had two impressive drives against the Bucs and a bunch of nothing on their other possessions. The lack of consistency in the passing game is frustrating, and there's no quick fix to get them back on track. Fields is holding the ball too long at times. The pass protection has been spotty. Receivers are running the wrong routes or sometimes executing the wrong play entirely.

Nothing is working right now. The Bears' offense is a complete disaster two games into a season that was supposed to be highlighted by Fields making a big leap as a passer.

The Bears offense has entered a state of systemic failure. The guy responsible for creating and maintaining "the system" is incompetent.
