Not at all. Getting the ball out quickly helps a bad line. Fields still thinks he's at Ohio State.

It happened a few years ago when foles replaced (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. I think it was for just like a game or so until things started to get bad again. Guys who are quicker to get the ball out do make lines look better than they actually are. It's just math - if your line can hold a rush for say 3.7 secs on average before they break then you need to throw the ball after at most 3.6 secs or sooner. It's fair to ask if 3.7 secs is enough - it probably isn't - but if that's what you're working with then you just need to adjust. Can't sign a 25 year old Jonathan Ogden or Orlando Pace midseason

I think a receiving corps of Claypool, Mooney, and Kmet is at least average.

Not sure but it's also on the QB except if the concept requires a long route to develop (eg the Martz seven step drop stuff). I think it was Brady or someone who said he knows where he's going with the ball before it's snapped. Does Fields? Like nas and others have said, it appears he still thinks he has all day to pat the ball and throw like he did in college. He needs to move closer to Brady's mindset.

Really. I'd love to see the multiple plays where Fields was snapped the ball and threw it to the open receiver.

You won't see that often because he doesn't get rid of the ball. On the Bears last touchdown drive he floated a 3 yard pass to a wide open Kmet on 3rd down.

Oh, ok. So all those plays where he drops back 5 yards and is under pressure, he's supposed to be taking the snap and getting rid of the ball. Must be a huge miscommunication between the OC and QB.

Stop being so irrationally defensive. He's not responsible for the failure of every pass play. However, there are MANY plays he could get the ball out quicker or throw guys open, but he holds the ball. That's not taking into account his accuracy issues.

Yes, we all know Mustipher is a bum, and the Bears don't have the 90's Cowboys offensive line, but that doesn't absolve Fields from criticism. Pointing out his limitations as a passer isn't the same as saying he sucks like Zach Wilson does.

Nas, IIRC, they have had 8 different offensive line personnel this year. That does not help a QB in his first year as a starter. There is no way you can make a definitve statement on Fields ability as a passer with this shitshow he is surrounded with. You were ready to send Mitch to Canton when the defense was carrying the team the year they went to the playoffs. It boggles my mind how quickly fans are ready to give up on this guy when the last guy was given multiple years to prove he was a backup QB.

I see no reason to replace him or spend a first round/early pick on a quarterback. That doesn't change my opinion that he needs to improve as a passer.

Bears picking 3 now. Would have choice of top non QB if Young/Stroud go 1-2

I’m somewhere in between Matt and Nas on this -Justin definitely makes his own mistakes, but this line also makes it almost impossible to run a competent passing offense.. not to mention, the receivers are questionable at best at this point.

Its almost all bad.. but they can run the ball lol

Gotta be honest here.. after losing to Atlanta, who can the Bears beat at this point..? And Fields is looking like he’s only a few plays away from getting carted away.. if that happens, there’s zero chance for another W the rest of the year..

Probably only the Vikings assuming they are resting all their starters

They may be able to trade down with a QB thirsty team and get a shitload of future draft capital.

They probably just need to keep losing to secure one of Will Anderson, Jalen Carter or Myles Murphy.

As I said this may be the worst front 7 I have ever seen. They don't know any basics of pass rushing Talent upgrade is needed but Allan Williams and the Dline coach need to be shown the door because zero coaching is going on with this position group

They probably just need to stand pat and get their 3 tech, Jalen Carter if they insist on running this stupid defense

There are a lot of good to great free agent defensive players. I feel like you have to get the best offensive player that isn't a quarterback in the draft.

If you need everything to be perfect so your franchise quarterback can complete a pass, he's really not your franchise quarterback. Its like the Cutler and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky years didnt even exist. These are the same criticisms and excuses going back 10 years now.

He’s right though. This defense has maybe a few NFL players in the secondary. The front 7 is below replacement level.
