He’s very, very fat. People forget that.

Nobody ever thinks about that or has the balls to say it. If you're walking around obese you're more susecptible to COVID, thus you are endangering others. Suddenly it isn't about the collective when it's their behavior that's being questioned.

He seems like a decent candidate for a turn around season, but we could just ignore the signing and take advantage of another opportunity to relitigate covid.

Yeah, he's a lottery ticket. You hope he's recovered and can bounce back, but you can't bank on him.

These covid fights won't end anytime soon.

Edit: The Sox not getting a team option for a 2nd year is dumb.

Meh move. Odds are he won't be as good as Cueto was last year. Only question is whether Gio gets traded and they bring in another arm.

Isn't there supposed to be some general amnesty about bad covid thoughts over the past two years?

Wait, so in addition to the burger he had the Fried Bologna Sandwich too? Those burgers are huge to begin with...I can't even imagine the items tasting good as a pairing, just take the sandwhich home for lunch the next day...no restraint, no wonder he's fucking obese.

Yeah, but it also reinforces the notion they are cheap in that they're getting someone at a discount.

Yeah, I don't love it as a baseball move. It's just another typical White Sox scrap heap signing. But if the guy comes in and pitches well I don't give a shit if he coughed COVID up all over a nursing home or cheated on his wife or whatever.

He's not a morally reprehensible person. He's just a typical human being. The more Woke Sox Twitter suggests he's an arch criminal the more I'm pulling for him.

And the people who instituted the COVID protocols he violated were wrong. His disobedience was moral.

I completely agree with that statement.

If you are going to take a flyer on a guy that is a year removed from Tommy John, you should at least have a team option in the contract. If he has a great season or ends the year great, you get nothing. That's bad business.

I don't blame LaRussa for them being mediocre last season.

The Sox are just a dumb franchise. That's why their answer to a disappointing season is to get rid of their best player.

Abreu is only good enough to help a World Series team. Besides the Sox can only find room for Vaughn at 1st base.

Interesting how great teams continue to spend money to improve their roster, even after winning it all. Cubs probably should have been in on him too.

Not for 3 years

I would keep Abreu and trade Vaughn.

This feels like a repeat of Danks/Buehrle.

Not for 3 years

I think the Ricketts could afford it. He was getting two years for sure.

The Sox could have kept him for less than they gave Clevinger. He loved the organization that much. Ricky Hahn knows best. Uncle Jerry is usually loyal. He should have stepped in.

I say this as a Sox fan, and Astros hater. Abreu has been my daughters and my favorite player. There is part of me hoping he has 3 great seasons in Houston, and that Vaughn implodes. Petty, yes. But it's how I feel today anyway.

If they keep Abreu and trade Vaughn, come next year, they're probably searching the scrap heep for a first baseman. I would like them to be the Yankees (spend the money necessary to win) but they're not and have never been.

It's possible. You can't expect these guys to go forever. But I'm sure they could have gone year-by-year with Abreu if they had shown him interest/respect. And it's not that difficult to find a first baseman.

Do you think Vaughn will ever have a better year than Abreu did last season? I have my doubts.
