I guess Dan and his son, Jason, have a podcast talking Bulls and the NBA.

He said he was 17 soon to turn 18. High School Senior. 4pm hour of the show.

Seems like a good kid. Very well spoken as you would expect Dan's kid to be.

Daddy Dan is trying to Kick start the kids sports media career.

It has worked for MANY before... I would say at 17 or 18, it is a "cute thing to do." I assume he is just bringing him to radio because that is all he has access to, and I certainly hope he has told him to never go into radio professionally, but maybe he can use that as a bit of a jump start for the podcast or something.

Ironic that Bernstein (along with Julie) have been harsh critics of nepotism in sports media.

It'd be a great listen if junior starts spewing out sjw rhetoric like the old man.

That's what I was thinking, how come Dan isn't mentoring some black kid from the inner city who wants to become a radio personality lol

10 spots to to fill on the college application regarding activities and a Bernstein will fill all 10.

my guess is he also pretends that he donates time to One Step Camp and that he will use it as the basis for his essay

I could see the Bernsteins also pretending the sewed masks together for first responders during covid

That's a bit of a trap, though, since many top schools prefer a focused, coherent approach to extracurriculars, as the belief is that this kind of participation is more likely to lead to outstanding achievement. The "spray to all fields" approach is sometimes perceived as being preoccupied with signifying achievement rather than actually achieving something unique and worthwhile.

Following in the footsteps of a couple of Weigels, Karen Jordan, a couple of Ponces, Stefan Holt, Brittney and Jarret Payton, Lauren Jiggetts, and on and on. It's the Chicago Way.

There are few people alive who could open a door or call in a favor for one of their kids but choose not to do it. It's a bullshit criticism. We have people here who are 2nd and 3rd generation professionals. I'm sure they've worked their asses off, but it didn't hurt having a loved one be able to guide you.

It would be cool to have another 30 years of Bernstein on Chicago sports radio.

Just like LeBron, maybe Dan waits to be able to share the stage with him.

Wow, pretty damning attack on the personal character of one Daniel Bernstein.

Will radio exist in 30 years?

Not at all. I'm sure he's not the only person who has benefited from the success of a loved one. The criticism of Bernstein in this situation was ridiculous.

I don’t hate nepotism but any opportunity to criticize Bernstein ought to be taken.

Also, it’s the beneficiary of nepotism that will have to deal with some scoffing and judgement, mostly from their peers. That’s a good thing and they’ll be fine.

if admissions was really honest, they'd tell kids that it matters so far less than GPA and ACT/SAT that it isn't worth the amount of effort so often poured into it
