I have a half day that day and it’s about a half hour drive from me (Q Bar in Darien). I’m on the fence…should I even ask if anyone is interested?

::ducks::

I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio.

Do it! You are important and leave work early. The limo can chauffeur you around.

So I can tell this story now because I don't go there any longer but my son's therapy was in that parking lot next door.

So I would sit there for an hour or so twice a week in that parking lot and that bar did not entice me and I have a long history of bars enticing me.

I always wanted to grab some Chuck's but I never once set foot in Q Bar. I couldn't really figure out what it was...billiards...slots....a crazy parking lot patio? It confounded me.

Not for any particular reason but it was usually about 5pm on a weekday and nobody was in the place which made it seem sketchy. The bakery next door isn't bad.

It's all of it. Hodge podge mix of people, teens, 20 somethings, people to see bands, families, we did a fundraiser in the event room and they let us spill over to the restaurant for auctions and stuff. Not at all a weekday place. It's not excellent but it's fine for what it is most weekend nights. My pool hall growing up was Oak Park Billards so the bar was low.

I'd just grab a slice of Rosati's and listen to George Strait.

I have an official size Willie Mosconi 1980 table in the podcast studio. It doesn't get used as much as it should but I'm not bad.

That's what she said.

My husband and I have always wanted a pool table but we don't have the space for it. It would be like that Seinfeld episode. I don't think I've played a game in 25 years but I was okay in high school. I was a when I'm on I'm on and when I'm not I'm not type of player. A little bit like a box of chocolate you never know what you are going to get. I can practice the next few weeks at my neighbors house though.

We have the room for it but it is not an efficient use of the space.

But I would kick your ass.

This table is actually from Mrs. Dr. Ken's house growing up. We would go out on a date and she would play pool and kick all kinds of ass. It was super-fun to watch in the mid-1990s.

You'd humor me though. I'd appreciate that.

I think I was super fun to watch in the mid 90s too. Might not have been pool related though.

I'll go if Spaulding agrees to bang me. She shouldn't. Nobody should bang me. But, ya know, after she has a few drinks...

Julie: How dare you!!!. It's white men like you that...

Beardown: I know, Julie. I know. You don't need to finish. I won't bang a drunken Spaulding. Just messing around. Ya know, joking.

Julie: Whatever. I know your kind. I saved you Spaulding. From that horrible Beardown.

Spaulding: Thanks.

Darts are fun. I'm sure there is skill involved but I didn't and don't care. It's weird when I play sports or games I can get competitive but with bar stuff I always backed off or lost that edge. I was probably more interested in the good time or the guy.

My best bar games were tying the cherry stem in a knot, throwing my legs behind my head, and deep throating a beer bottle. 20 years ago I'd have kicked your ass in that triathlon now it might be an even playing field.

I'll buy you a drink for sure. WZ, Noisy and Beardown would be a hoot. Somebody pm Reason and get his ass up here and it would be epic.

I love darts. It is hard but you can also do it drunk, that's how good I was.

Dr. Ken's Brother was a dart legend. I wasn't as good as him but I was close but I haven't played in years.

I don't see darts at bars anymore. That was a big thing in my 20s. Slot machines have taken that space at bars it seems.

Probably. Too much space and all those crappy plastic darts they had to use.

The bar makes $2 on a 15 minute dart game.

It's not about the money on the game; it's about the money spent on alcohol by uber competitive drunk people.

Yeah. I'm old enough to remember when arcade games and an actual pool table were at bars. I have a fond memory when I was 8 to 12 years old and my old man would take me his favorite bar the day before Thanksgiving. He was hanging with his buddies. And he'd give me a bunch of quarters to play pac man while they drank. And then they would play pool. I'll never forget. We had a tournament. 12 year old me beat the old guys at pool at the end of the night cuz they were all drunk. That was fun.

You think I was only drinking because I was playing darts?

I'd still be drinking but I would be probably interacting with something that would make my night more interesting.

Shit talking and competitive bar games made me drink more. Either I played better drunk or the people I was with were worse after a few drinks.

I drank less when I was solely hunting. Young Nas had one or two bad hunts that taught him some valuable lessons about drinking.

I always liked the table-top video games. Don't know why. It just seemed cool at the time. I'd play table-top Asteroids and Pac-Man.
