Where contracts are headed, that $300M doesn't seem awful. It's probably backloaded.

there is an interesting sub category developing of short years but very high per year.

That is actually favorable to both owners and players.

Yep! If you are a betting man, I would play in that arena. It worked out well for Bauer.

He gets so many decisions and will only play for top level teams. I also think he is one of those guys who has an appreciation for the game so if he gets close, he will stick around. I'd say he gets at least 30 more in his two year deal with the Mets.

Who will he pay to allow him to get the other 36? I think it would be cool, but I'll be shocked if he pulls it off.

Are we talking about the reigning Cy Young?

If he is terrible, the Sox would try to sign him on the cheap in two years.

and I goofed on the math, he needs 56.

That one puzzled me as well. Could be that Rendon has to move to 2B in the long run if he is having trouble throwing.

Then again trying to make sense of anything the Angels do besides wasting the career of superstars is always a challenge.

Its a great move if they address short. He'll get plenty of AB's playing 1st, 3rd, and probably some 2nd. If he's their answer at short its not what I was hoping for. I like the moves so far.

I doubt it. He will get time in OF and DH and 1B.

They also need to be able to PH for Straw late in games they are losing, so whoever sits that day will draw that duty.

Only the Cubs would cut a guy Heyward 211 .280 .326. 606 66 in '21 & '22 then replace him with a guy Bellinger who was 193 256 355 .611 64. in 21 & '22. Now paying them both 40 million in '23.

One of these guys is not like the other. Former MVP, CF/1B gold glove, under 30 on a 1yr prove it deal.

It's still $40M for the same bat. With ZERO upside for the Cubs if he stops sucking. The deal should have included a team option.

Hal Steinbrenner panicked worrying about the fans. Max Kellerman correctly called what they've done in the last year a "stupid tax". Can't say that I disagree.
