They may be in a hurry, but I'd bet they would've included his name in a post about him.

I was always found of Mike Leach because of Bernstein's irrational hate of him. RIP.

Oddly enough Bernsie held back on him while talking about this when it broke.

Yep. In fact he seemed to imply that he sort of liked him.

I have heard Bernsie talk well of him at times like with his obsession with pirates. So I think he may have had mixed feelings about him.

I think people realized they went a little overboard on the Leach hate for what happened with Texas Tech and Craig James son. It was at worst a misplaced action in dealing with a concussion and likely a whole lot of nothing except for the media name of Craig James.

You are right. I've read a lot about this situation because I have always been a big Mike Leach fan. Most of it was overblown. Apparently, Craig James and his wife are both unhinged.

Congrats on # 1!

He was a lawyer, so a certain amount of genuflection is expected from Bernstein

Best to his family. It's sad.

But figures that the Illini get back to a Bowl game and the whole broadcast will be like a funeral. Kind of hard to get fired up about kicking the shit out of a team whose coach just died.

It reminds me of the 82 Liberty bowl where it was Bear Bryant’s last game. People kind of knew he was gonna be passing away soon and playing Illinois as a sacrificial lamb. And of course Illinois was there to get their obligatory ass kicked.

Beat the Illini at your own risk. Everyone knows this.

I remember watching that with my dad. He kept saying that the refs were giving Alabama breaks. Ima hafta watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktoPK83 ... TIDEGraham

@Hawger: What's weird is that the next link for the Google search "1982 Liberty Bowl refs" is this: https://www.hawg-tales.com/hawg-tales/c ... texas-refs

my earliest bowl memory is watching the bluebonnet bowl, which I think was played in Houston. It was probably this same year so I guess this was when I was starting to become conscious of football. Even as a kid I thought Lou Holtz was an odd, little man
