If Santos is on the opening day roster, your bullpen sucks.

I don't disagree, but we are talking about the Sox.

I heard an idiot caller to XM89's afternoon show insist that the way to fix the Sox woes was to acquire Mike Moustakas and get Madrigal back from the Cubs, and play Moustakas and Burger at 3B and Madrigal and Moncada at 2B.

Fortunately I was in a grocery store parking lot so I couldn't accidentally drive my car off the road from the laughing.

Diekman, Kelly, Graveman, Bummer. Their bullpen sucks right now as is.

And before some knucklehead jumps into this thread fawning all over Aaron Bummer and how he was supposedly ruined by the three batter rule, I'd like to point out the first hitters Bummer faced last season had a collective OPS of over 1.200

Crochet.

Granted he sucked before his injury but still.

If they don't put Burger into the starting line-up at 3rd base, they are even dumber than what they showed before.

Yep. Burger at third is not the solution to anything. He's a first baseman or DH, but doesn't really hit well enough for either position.

But the corpse of Moustakas?

He can be part of a 5 man DH/1B rotation

Bernstein was referencing this article the other day:

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/chicago-whi ... ects-2023/

Based on this article, and his age, he's now anti Oscar Colas. However, MLB Pipeline disagrees and has Colas in the top 100.

Probably looking at 150 Ks/15 BB per year. You can live with it if he's a 30+ bomb guy. They say he's durable which more and more is becoming a very high attribute in MLB. They should add that to their scores on Arm, Power, contact, and such.

Nah. He is a prototype 3rd baseman and was doing just fine hitting last season until he got hit in the hand by a pitch. LaRussa also stupidly kept putting Moncada into the line-up in his fixation with playing veterans instead of younger players. Moncada is a guy who doesn't belong as a starting player.

The Marlins are signing Jean Segura to play 2B on a 2/18.

The White Sox are really going to play Leury at 2B every day, aren't they??

Probably Romy. If they haven't learned their lesson on Everyday Leury, there's no hope.

Might as well re sign Harrison at this point. What else can you do except get the best glove you can out there?

I would rather play someone with upside at this point. Let's be real, this isn't a contending team, so the goal should be to develop players.

It was idiotic to decline his $5.5 million option if they didn't have a better plan.

The Sox are idiots.

Harrison played a decent enough 2B and hit well enough from Memorial Day onward that you absolutely could have lived with him batting 8th/9th and playing 120 games out there.

Baring a trade, there's no way they're going to find a second baseman that's going to hit reasonably well. So, it would be nice if they could find a second baseman that fields well and at least solve the defensive problem. However, the upper levels of their minor league system don't appear to have a real slick defender in a middle infield position and I don't think Romy Gonzalez really fits that description either.

Kenny will probably sign Gordon Beckham to be 2nd baseman and road announcer.

I'd re-sign Andrus and have Sosa and he share 2nd base and the utility job. OR if they can't find a sucker to take Moncada's contract, move his lame ass to 2nd base and put Burger at 3rd.

Bummer was just THAT.....A TOTAL BUMMER. Speaking of lefties, I hope like hell that Crochet is sound next year and while we are wishing and hoping for a miracle, I'd love them to talk the Red Sox in trading Sales back to us. Maybe give them Giolitto in return and eat some of Sales contract?

I think this is the third year in a row we are left with the same exact question marks of Rf, 2B and LH starter.

I get that RF is a question mark when you're playing a prospect there, but at some point, if you don't believe in a prospect enough to play him, why do you have him?
