2B is the real frustrating part IMO. A guy like Segura would have been perfect. He did not cost that much.

I get that RF is a question mark when you're playing a prospect there, but at some point, if you don't believe in a prospect enough to play him, why do you have him?
I would rather Colas play out there and struggle than try to use a stop gap guy like Mazara, or have Leury play out there all season.

Let Colas play. The worst that can happen is that he is Joe Borchard, and if he is you pull the plug and send him back to AAA for a while.

I agree. Who is the rightfielder they are supposed to sign who people believe will be better than Colas? And if there is one, then the bigger problem is that they made a huge mistake in evaluating Colas.

I don't have an issue with playing Colas. Not sure about his defense, but assuming that will be an upgrade over what they had out there last season. I do think it would make sense to have some veteran help out there, not sure if that is now Gavin Sheets or some free agent.

If they are going with Colas though, at least he is considered a top 100 prospect. The same isn't true about 2B. If they don't make a meaningful upgrade there, it does raise questions about the team being serious about competing if they have two issues (assuming Colas has some struggles) in the lineup that are not being addressed and bringing back the same team that underachieved.

I agree. They're leaving too many question marks if they're really trying to contend. That's the problem I- and MANY others- have with the Sox right now. They wasted all those years tanking and now they're still not trying. The answer seems to be canceling Soxfest to avoid the wrath of the fans.

We don't go to games when they're good/great. Why would we show up at Soxfest? We would just watch it on television.

I am not expecting a $200M payroll, but I am not expecting the same issues year after year to never be resolved. The drafting seems to not of changed either. We draft 1B/DHs. Even last years 1st rd pick is not gonna stick where he was drafted.

I think last year was a turning point for MANY Sox fans. People love to joke about their attendance, but unless they get off to a really hot April I think there will be MANY games were fewer than 10K are at the park. Paltry 12-15K crowds on weekends might be a thing too. Sure people may buy tickets to get their promo vest or jersey or whatever giveaway, but MANY will get their item and turn around and go right back home.

Here's how it will start- Drop 2 of 3 @Houston, sell out and win Opening Day, then draw 9K combined in 40 degree temps and lose the following two days vs SF.

At this point, I plan to spend $0 on White Sox tickets in 2023. That's not to say I won't end up at a couple of games, but I ain't spending a dime on these fuckers.

It really is sad that for about half my life Sox have alienated fans.

When the new park opened, they had Grass Police outside the stadium. Anybody remember that? They really really thought that ballpark was some kind of gem. Just like JR thought LaRussa was some kind of gem.

TLR was a gem in the 90s. Just like that ballpark would have been a gem in the 1980s.

Yep. I just had a conversation with my son about exactly this. When you look at the Sox team over the last three years, the weaknesses are the same. Holes at 2nd, catcher, and right field both offensively and defensively. And you can throw 3rd base into it also with Moncada being dead wood. And at the same time, logjams at 1b/DH/. This is just shitty GM/owner decision making. OF course the bad decision to hire laRussa and all of his stupid managerial decisions as well as roster decisions reall put them into an even deeper hole .I am a guy who hates holding fast when there are personnel problems and it is solvable especially when it doesn't involve spending a lot of money.

We are talking about Dead Weight ruining your everyday line-up. Grandal, Moncada, and a lack of a good everyday second baseman is ruining their chances to win on a regular basis and it is the same damned thing for three years running.

I do not remember the "Grass Police." Story? Explanation?

This has been talked to death, but the new park (while not a gem) is not bad. It's at least as good as your run of the mill retro parks like Comerica or Citizens Bank Park.

Sadly as a Sox fan, the championship window is almost closed already. It'll take a lot of career years to win anything this year.
