There will be roughly 30 openings on our 52 man.

So theyll probably be terrible again next year

Better, but it is unlikely they'll be good/great.

I’d be happy with a 9-8 team next year if they put the right personnel out there. They aren’t going to the playoffs

9-8?
How? It's not just a matter of adding a piece or two. Fields can't pass now, what if he can't pass next season?
He couldn't pass against a Lion secondary in extended garbage time against a Lion secondary missing it's best player.

They lost a shit ton of one score games this year. Swing a few plays here & there, piece together 15 new starters and boom…9-8.

I think they benefited from an NFL that hadn't seen their schemes and by having a team full of players fighting for their NFL lives.

There’s a lot of mediocrity out there. I don’t think there’s that much distance between a team like Washington or Seattle and the Bears.

If they can field a representative NFL defense next year I think they’re easily at 8 wins.

I think 9-8 is a best case scenario but it’s been proven you can turn a team around faster in the NFL than any other league. As Antioch mentioned they lost a number of relatively close games even after trading some big defensive chips early and losing guys to injury. I’ll admit a lot of good moves need to be made but I like how things are shaping up with some cap money and draft picks. More than I have in the Previous era when we traded away all of our draft capital.

Not sure if George, Poles, and Eberflus understand how much heat will be applied to their respective backsides if the team does not show immense improvement next year, especially for George who has stumbled and fumbled through numerous GM/HC hiring cycles, having 35-40,000 fans show up at Soldier Field looks OK, but it will look terrible once they move into a much larger stadium.

Eberflus looks to be a point a to point b guy, but you can easily launch him if a good HC becomes available, but not sure George would recognize a good head coach because when presented with two options he has consistently picked the wrong guy.

The moves Poles makes this offseason will either start building the foundation for long term success, or derail the team for the next 5-10 years. He has been presented with the opportunity to completely remake the roster, but most of the need are in the trenches, so the moves will not be for pretty skill position guys, but for large ugly and angry men that will keep the pretty skill position QB from limping over to the medical tent every other series.

Sign me up for Jalin Hyatt despite him being under 6'2". When I looked at video on Hooker, he was the guy who stood out. This draft may not have a lot of great receivers, but that kid is a stud.

I've said it before, I think this off season needs to be centered around getting Da'Ron Payne. Then you draft either Anderson, Murphy or Carter. I would also make a push for Ngakue from the Colts. That is an instant and impactful reorganization of the DL. They have the money to do this and still have plenty left over for other holes. They have the talent in the secondary.

I think they have to take Will Anderson over anyone else if they don't trade down.

the bears are in good shape to really improve in a hurry with draft picks and cap space. And if they are going to stick with Fields they have an entire off-season to devise an offense that utilizes his talents to the fullest. If he is the guy then go all-in with it and draft mobile offensive linemen and quick RAC underneath receivers.

It is hard to get a read on the quarterbacks in this draft. They are either running or throwing to receivers that are wide open. If I were a quarterback hungry team, I would probably draft Will Levis first. Anthony Richardson is intriguing, but he reminds me too much of Justin Fields. I would take Stroud over Bryce Young.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Bo Nix, or Sam Hartman would be my late round targets. I've read what the experts have said, but DTR looks perfect to me.

Why definitely Anderson over Carter?

Carter is a guy who gets a great push up the middle and can disrupt a running game, but he doesn't get to the quarterback or actually make the tackle enough for me. Will Anderson looks like a Micah Parsons. He gets to the quarterback, causes problems all over the field, is a great athlete, and he has an unbelievable motor.

Hartman will be playing in South Bend next year.

Levis reminds me of Cutty a little bit. I think he could be a solid if unspectacular pro but it seems like he’s going to cost a top 5 pick. I actually like Young a lot but his size would terrify me. Stroud gets the OSU QB label and must be avoided at all costs.

Nas is correct in that the roster will drastically different next year. They have all the cap space in the world....now they need to prove they can draft.

I am normally fixated on Offensive Line and pissed they it never gets addressed, but this Bears defense is absolutely tragic. I am hoping / thinking they will draft on defense and address the o-lne via free agency.

In my scenario, I'm getting Payne, who, by the way, is only 25. He had a career year but even before this year he got consistent pressure from the interior.

Dolphin going with the Roll Tide philosophy.

Complete message board guessing below......

Is there any offseason plan where the Bears love one of the QB's, and they trade Fields? If they are 6-10, and looking at the 8th pick, that might not work. But with the 2nd pick.... They're already flipping the majority of the roster, maybe the GM/coach want to get "their" guy.

Theoretically, they could trade Fields and get a few first round picks and trade their first round pick and get a couple more first round picks. I'm not sure if Poles has balls that big. It would be exciting if he doea.
