Why does the SEC even need other teams/conferences? The SEC champion is the national champion.

Big Ten will eventually dominate. They have most of the money. If Saban was smart, he'd go get the Ohio St job.

A broader field gets you Bama-Georgia in the title game and a good shot at a game that’s competitive. Along the way, they’ll get to shit pump every other conference’s “good” team.

Unless Clemson is good, which shouldn’t really count as they ought to be in the SEC anyway.

They won't though. Guys will take less to avoid living in Champaign or West Lafayette

It's more about proximity. Players would rather be closer to home and a huge percentage of the high school talent is closer to the SEC schools. Most of the SEC schools are in pretty terrible locations also. Vanderbilt is probably the best town and they are terrible.

Would TCU even be a middle of the pack team in the SEC?

If TCU plays Alabama or LSU the score is likely similar.

If it was a high school game they would have gone to the running clock early, but even Georgia's third and fourth string guys were blowing TCU's defense off the ball.

That was as disgusting a beating as back in the day when teams like Oklahoma and Nebraska felt the need to beat bums by similar scores. Please Lord let Lincoln Riley recruit and learn to coach real defense.

You are really overstating the quality of the SEC. Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama were all near elite. When LSU went against Georgia and Tennessee, the result was similar to TCU. Kentucky was a middle of the pack SEC team and they couldn't score, even with a QB and RB who will be drafted this year.

What does it say about the Big 10?

That they don’t have enough talent to compete at the highest levels. And that the level of investment in the sport is much higher down south. Or that the lion’s share of the Big 1G schools investment is in actual education.

They definitely do, but they don’t have the kind of fanbases like down south to force the needed spending (except Michigan and the World’s Largest Junior College).

Edit: and weather and attractiveness of the coeds matter. And if I’m a seventeen year old I’m not freezing my ass off five months a year to be around largely humble looking girls. Not to mention the money is better.

It’s why college football needs USC

It says that the second place team in the B10 lost to the best in the SEC by one point by missing a last second makeable field goal in what was a road game. Do you guys really have that short of a memory?

Pretty embarrassing to get beaten by an SEC team by so many points in a bowl game.

Hmmm...lets take a look.

There are over 500 SEC players in the NFL, Big 10 is next with 381.

65 draft picks from SEC last year, again Big 10 second with 48, SEC had 12 first round selections, and 33 in rounds 1-3, so basically 1/3 of the top 100 players last year were from the SEC.

This may change soon as Coach Prime tries to siphon off some of the five star guys, but there is still a talent gap between the SEC and the other conferences, you can easily see the difference in speed/athleticism between the top SEC defenses, which are loaded with NFL talent, and teams like TCU with solid college talent.

first, the discussion is about this year. second, I acknowledge the elite, almost all of those top picks are coming from (as they are at, say osu v. the rest of the b10). That analysis really does not address what we are discussing, which is the middle of the sec

In what I would classify as the middle of the 2 conferences in bowl games against each other this year the SEC was 2-1. LSU and Mississippi State wins and Iowa for the Big 10.

TCU would easily beat 5 of those 6 middle of the conference teams. I think they beat LSU as well but its not as obvious.

Iowa 21 pts (14 on defense)
Kentucky 0 points
Illinois 13 points
MSU 19 pts (6 on special teams)

Every word in all these quotes taste like stale cum
