This guy has to have a bipolar disorder or something. No one that took that many classes on this shit would be that sloppy. Everything he did was a trail to being caught. I think he wanted to be caught, he wanted to be a guy that would be remember by his full 3 names and have a movie or two written about his crimes 10 years down the road.

I am most surprised that they had a pretty good idea it was him over a month ago IIRC and they just let him be while they did further investigating. He should have been tailed 24-7 or something. I am shocked he didn't get the itch for a few more notches in his belt.

He really made only one error that will convict him—leaving the knife sheath with his DNA on it. That puts him in the house.

All the other stuff—cell phone pings, car sightings—is just circumstantial and I don’t think he could be convicted on that alone. No murder weapon, no motive.

I wonder if he left the sheath on purpose thinking he had cleaned it? Sort of a trademark.

Those pings and car sightings got them connected to him which got them the match on the sheath. He gutted the shit out of 4 people so I am assuming they find some type of additional evidence somewhere in his apt or car. He has to have had some kind of encounter with one of them prior that triggered this whole thing so I'm sure that info will come out.

Why did the cops have his cell phone number from his traffic stop? Is that something they ask for and require?

I don't know if it was reported as fact, but I assume they had a GPS tracker on his vehicle within a week of the murders and had eyes on him any time he left his house and wasn't going to class or whatever. Especially any after dark excursions he might have made post-murder. Probably they were waiting for the DNA results off the knife sheath to come back and obtaining a matching sample from him/his family before picking him up.
