Yep, that's why I said tempted and not that they would for sure go for him. The reason I think they'd be tempted is, unlike Ryan, Carr is still in his prime. Unlike Wentz, Carr is also not a dumbass. But Indy is in a tough position - no real game changer QB prospect in the draft (as far as we know) and while Carr is available he's more like a person you settle for.

Seems like you're weakening your negotiation position w/r/t moving up in the draft to get a QB by coming out and saying you're not looking at bringing in a vet.

Poles did it the right way, saying "Justin is our QB" in 2023, even if he's still taking calls for offers on Fields.

He can even go back on that statement by saying he was blown away by Young or another quarterback.

If it weren't for Wilson then Denver maybe would have been an ideal landing spot for Carr. Decent talent at WR, possible star RB if he recovers from his injury, and what seemed like a strong defense. That's more than he ever had in Oakland and that's all a game manager type QB might need.

Leery just pegged Young at 5’11” 185lbs and asked Matt Bowen a question nobody is talking about: should NFL teams be worried Young is too small to handle the NFL?

Lazy, just like Rahimi/Berstein linking criticism of Fields to racism. Just mailing it in.

Carr will be 32 in March. If this is his prime...woof. I don't see any team looking at Carr and thinking, "yeah, I gotta give up a draft pick to get THAT guy".

Is he a legit 5'11" ? Murray is 5'9" ..he's too small, can't see over the helmets.

Leery’s got the build of a professional athlete in his own mind, so I don’t know that I trust his ability to size up another man.

I predict that Carr will go to Seattle.

wouldnt this be nice?

https://thedraftnetwork.com/2023-nfl-mock-draft-non-playoff-order/

TRADE:
IND receives: 2023 1st-round pick (No. 1 overall)
CHI receives: 2023 1st-round pick (No. 4 overall), 2023 2nd-round pick (No. 36 overall), 2023 4th-round pick (No. 106 overall), 2024 1st-round pick, 2024 2nd-round pick

then...

CAR receives: 2023 1st-round pick (No. 4 overall)
CHI receives: 2023 1st-round pick (No. 9 overall), 2023 2nd-round pick (No. 40 overall)

the first one is nuts, there's no way you can give up your first and second for the next two years to move up 3 spots... at least i dont think you should

I think the Indy trade makes sense for them but you'd have to remove the 2024 1st round pick and probably make it a 4th round pick.

If I'm Indy I'm staying put, they will get a qb at 4.

But they are getting desperate and Ballard is already on record as saying he will do whatever needed to get the QB he wants. More than likely they are not getting the QB they want at 4.

If I was any team in the market to draft a QB, I'd try to get the Jets to move up to the spot in front of me and take a sure-to-bust QB off the board.

The draft makes people insane. I'll never get over the fact that Pace ignored (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in pretty much the entire draft process because he didn't want anyone to know he wanted him and then suddenly on draft day he paid a huge price to move up one spot to make sure no one jumped him to get his guy that no one knew was his guy who he had barely talked to but he was absolutely sure was the answer.

Convinced himself that Mitch was the guy to be the franchise qb based on what, 11 college starts? How the hell do you get to be an NFL GM and make picks based on that ?

As it stands right now, Indy probably feels pretty good about getting a QB at 4 as it's only Houston ahead of them. What we need is Atlanta and Carolina to get QB Gold Fever. I don't see Seattle or Las Vegas doing that.
If 2 teams start trying to move up, then we could see Indy get stupid.

Maybe. But as Brick pointed out this stuff makes people crazy. Ballard is clearly on the ledge right now. He could easily convince himself that someone else wants him and moves up to get him.

All the Bears really need to do is tell the Colts that they will be trading the first pick in the draft and the Colts have to be heavily involved.

Just think of it from the Colts side:
The Bears trade the first pick in the draft and Team X uses it for Young.
The Texans take Stroud/Levis.
The Cardinals then tell the Colts they are getting offers for pick 3 from teams that need a QB.

The Colts either have to call the bluff of the Cardinals and risk not leaving this draft with a first round quarterback or they have to make a trade to get the third best QB in the draft and who knows if they even like them. They could draft the fourth qb in the draft at 4 as Richardson seems to at least have a first round grade but that would require a lot of self control.

Instead, before the draft even starts, they can lock in that they get any qb they want and don't have to worry about it all.
