Chicago Bears' Brandon Lloyd To Release Hip Hop Album

October 14th, 2008 | Author: Danielle Harling

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, who goes by the stage name B. Lloyd, is jumping into the world of Hip Hop with his upcoming album Master Of Ceremony.

B. Lloyd's current single "She All Mine" featuring Bobby Valentino was made available on iTunes last month and is already in rotation at a number of radio stations.

Although football has been in his blood since elementary school, B. Lloyd has always had a growing passion for music, and his musical influences have ranged from DJ Jazzy Jeff to Lionel Richie.

"I'm more passionate about football just because that's my job, but at the same time I approach music with the same amount of passion," Lloyd told HipHopDX. "It gives me the same feeling. The working and the creating the song. Hearing the final product it's like scoring a touchdown."

Although shocked by his new career as a rapper, B. Lloyd's fellow teammates have been supportive and several have gone on to purchase his single "She All Mine" on iTunes.

"I think they're more surprised. It's not like I run around the locker room rapping to everybody. When the single came out on iTunes one of the guys called like four or five guys on the team and they're like, 'Oh shut up, that ain't him,'" B. Lloyd explained to HipHopDX.

According to B. Lloyd, it's his passion that separates him from the numerous athletes who haven't been successful with their transition to music.

"I know I'm not the most popular football player, I'm not even the most popular football player on my football team. So it's not like I'm sitting here [trying to] ride on that. Like, 'Oh look at me I'm the greatest, and I'm the best player so I'm putting out a record. You should buy it because I'm the best'," says Lloyd. "And I'm not putting it out like I'm a football player and you should buy it because I play football. People should buy it because it's the best product out."

Master Of Ceremony will be released in stores on Feb. 2.

I wonder if it'll contain anything that Carol Slezak will find offensive?
