He's going to want an extension this year. For a guy targeted so much, he doesn't make any explosive plays.

Not defending Pittman but his QBs seemed to enjoy throwing 360 degree left handed interceptions to defensive ends (Wentz) and to the occasional defensive back (Ryan).

He had like 300 receptions this year and his longest play was like 25 yards. By accident, you would think a guy who's been targeted that much would have at least a 30 yard play. I can't pay $100M+ for that. If what Kap is saying is true, the Colts don't want to either.

Stroud likely staying at OSU. Massive win for the Bears if true.

Carolina is desperate for a QB but doesn't have enough to trade all the way up to #1 in one fell swoop. They may try to trade up with Arizona at #4 if the third QB is someone they like. If they can get to #4, they have a shot of enticing the Bears with the #4 and another couple of firsts (say 2024 and 2026). That 2024 1st should be no worse than 7th.

Washington will get Derek Carr. They will continue to be a 7-10 type of team in both draft and cap hell.

The wild card to me is what Seattle does with Geno Smith.

That is huge for the bears - they really have everything coming together to have a great off-season.

He has to declare today and the guy in charge of the OSU NIL program tweeted that he got some big news today. OSU wants another title and has the funding to do it.

Yes, it is. others (including fields) have waited until the last day to declare. It would be huge for the bears if he did but I can’t find reports that he is going back to OSU, just speculation. Granted I haven’t looked hard.

It's likely he is going back to OSU. I didn't say he definitely was.

So they hope he is coming back. That would be quite a thing since he’s guaranteed to be top 5. It’s possible he hates the idea of playing for the Texans or Colts which isn’t unrealistic.

That should scare GMs, he would have been taken in the top 5.

He turned down the Cardinals job. How awful of a person is Kyler Murray?

Murray being injured and a possibile cancer probably downgrades the opportunity. I think it's smart to avoid it: Murray likely misses most of not all of next season. Then when he does come back he'll have to face questions about regaining the speed and twitchiness that made him valuable in the first place. Will he recover it? What if he doesn't? Then what do you have in him? So Arizona is almost worse than having no QB, like say Denver, because you really don't have Murray until maybe 2024 and once he gets back you're not sure if he's the same. That's a long time to wait to find out and it'll likely cost you your job if you gamble on Murray and end up being wrong. Plus there's the opportunity cost of not developing a QB in the meantime since conventional wisdom suggests you find a stopgap between now and when Murray gets back, and that stopgap is likely to suck. Unless they think big. Smart to pass and wait for a more sure opportunity.

Where have you read that he will miss most of next season? Supposedly it’s an 8-10 month injury, which puts his return @ 2-6 games or so.

A new Call of Duty comes out around that time. He'll probably have an unexpected setback.

He should of took the job, even the worst GM job in football is still a great fucking job. Another year and then he has more "Bears Stink" on his resume.

I initially remember hearing 10-12 months when it happened, making it December worst case. This is when I was paying attention to him due to having him on my fantasy team. If it's 8-10 then yeah he'd be back sooner than December. Still think it's a tough spot to be in for a new GM. If it were a pocket passer it'd be different but Murray adds a lot of value with his maneuverability.

Yeah I’ll never understand guys waiting out very high profile jobs. Tells me they have no confidence they’ll do the job well.
