in theory, he could have saved his marriage by retiring last year. He chose to lose it for one more season.

It almost seems like he came back just to definitively tell her it was over.

I know it is easier than actually playing football but have to imagine the marriage was over when football player Tom Brady signed a deal to stay involved in football by announcing football games all football season every week.

His wife, who married a football player, was rightfully shocked that a football player would do such a thing.

announcer is a 1 day a week job, even less if you are Tony Romo

I think that is true for someone who is just in the studio but it requires more work to be doing games. You have to know a lot more about the teams and obviously you have a lot of travel.

travel for them isn't like it is for you and I. Humping it in economy stuck between sweating fatties. He could and probably does fly private. I know Herbstreit works College Gameday in the morning and the private jet him from that site to his announcing site for that same night.

It's obviously much easier than playing the games but the point is that if his wife wanted him to be done with football he chose a post retirement job that would take up 3-4 days of your week with game prep, travel, and actually calling the game.

Brees quit and Manning will seemingly only do a video conference with his brother on Monday nights. If it was really just a one day job I think they'd both be more than happy to call games.

Three days at least for a national broadcast.

Production meetings, meetings with coaches and players.

The occasional meetings with sponsors as well.

Good thing she didn't marry a plumber. I'm pretty sure they don't retire until 65 and there aren't many off seasons.

We all would resent a spouse who tried to force us to stop making a living doing what we love with an ultimatum. It was a well deserved "FUCK YOU" to her.

And her ultimatum was reportedly connected to her desire to go do some nonsense work elsewhere in the world.

That marriage was doomed.

He gets plenty of time off. Before and after retirement. That anybody can relate to her complaint is astounding.

Who was that guy who used to sleep in Brett Favre’s driveway every summer on unretirement watch? Ed Werderer?

I think you can fire Bowles and he'll still be on the sidelines looking clueless. He's a defensive coordinator. A really good one.

Destroyed his marriage to play one more year of shitty football and become addicted to plastic surgery.

I'm not sure why he would want to come back. Time is finally winning the battle against Tom Brady. If he can't be away from the game or the locker room, I doubt he would have much trouble finding a job as an offensive asst or a QB coach somewhere.

When he did the hair thing it wasnt too weird. But why in the fuck would the best guy doing the manliest sport have a desire for cosmetic surgery? Nose jobs are the only ones I've seen that can look better. Anything else is worse.
