the West is so wide open. It's insane. Pels have lost 6 straight. They looked like a top contender at one time. Denver is certainly good but they have a poor injury history with some of their best players. Memphis got exposed and have lost 4 straight. SACRAMENTO is a 3 seed right now...that's a decent, not great squad. Clippers did look great against the Lakers but the 3 pointers were falling and they actually played some defense.

The Pels are missing 66% of their big three. Memphis also lost Adams...not a superstar but an elite defender and rebounder. Counts for something.

PatBev is a piece of work but he's shooting better in the last few weeks and he brings an edge defensively that the Lakers would be lost without. Dennis too. Two guys you love to hate.

Pels, yes, that makes sense. We'll see come playoffs. Lakers have 3 games left with that bunch.
Memphis, they had Adams when they played the Lakers. Can't sell me on Memphis. Too many small problems. Death by 1000 papercuts.

yea the price they paid was not good, but i don't think he's the problem

Russell is pretty bad . Watched most of the game vs. Kings last night . The amount of stupid /unforced turnovers they made as a team was just maddening. Between that and shooting 13-25 FT, they should have won that game by like 20 . Instead after being up double digits, they have to mount a huge comeback to tie and send to OT, then proceed to get curb stomped in the OT

saw the same game and agreed. Didn't realize he'd declined that much. Might be on the move before the deadline.

NBA has a good old fashioned villain. Guys have been muttering under their breath for awhile but it's official now. Dillon Brooks is an asshole.

I love that guy.

Lakers will likely lose Saturday but clearly should make the playoffs. Only way they screw it up is picking up LaVine....I sad.

This means Kyrie to the Lakers and Durant to the Suns, just like what was discussed in the offseason.

Let's do it. Would be a fun show and we can watch the whole thing burn to the ground.

Marc Spears was on ESPN a little while ago and said he spoke with 6 GMs today. A couple mentioned the obvious teams (Lakers, Mavs, Heat) who'd be interested. The Bulls were mentioned as well. Sending Coby White and DeRozan works. Or Coby, Vooch, and Derrick Jones Jr. Each is probably too much -- unless the Bulls want Vooch out and are sick of his rim protection. Coby, Vooch, and Jones are all expiring contracts too.

Kyrie-LaVine-Williams-Green-Vooch or Kyrie-LaVine-DeRozan-Williams-Drummond would be fun.

I still think the Lakers end up with him. It seems like he's wanted to be there since this past offseason and Los Angeles has to give a LeBron-AD-Kyrie trio a shot. The Nets an expiring Westbrook, another guy and one of those unprotected 1st Round picks when LeBron will be long gone.

Of the Bulls big 3 Vooch is the one guy that I would like to keep.

I'm sure Durant would like to play with DeRozan much more than Westbrook

Here's a crazy trade that works on the Trade Machine:
Coby, DeRozan, Caruso, and some guy like Tony Bradley or Simonovic for Kyrie and Joe Harris

Kyrie-LaVine-Harris-Williams-Vooch

All 5 of those guys can shoot the 3. Talk about floor spacing, especially after getting rid of DeRozan.

This team as it is constructed is going nowhere. Might as well take a big swing and watch it all burn down

I think the big swing is resetting by trading for several picks rather than acquiring a mercurial PG who is not a piece that you can win with today or tomorrow. Trading for Irving specifically would be very very odd given his track record.

Yes, and while going down it would be fun to watch a starting lineup where all 5 guys shoot 38% or better from 3.

If they trade Lavine for Kyrie straight up they immediately would be top 4 in the conference. Trading for picks does nothing because they'd likely be lottery protected or top 4 protected meaning you still wouldn't be drafting a franchise player.

I don't know what the big deal is. There's 30+ some games with Kyrie under contract. You want an 8-10 seed or a shot at maybe a 6? There's very little to lose.

That's a strong assumption on the picks. Obviously the Bulls would press for unprotected picks if they're giving up serious assets like the big three.

No one really gives up unprotected picks these days thus it isn't much of an assumption. And picks are only assets if it's a strong draft. In a weak draft their useless.
Kyrie is a legit superstar player. Guys like that don't become available often. If you don't have to give up much(which Lavine isn't) you make the trade in a heartbeat.

Kyrie's unprofessionalism/randomness downgrades his status from superstar to ... unknown.

It also downgrades his trade value which is why you make the move and fast. There is a reason your guy LeBron has been begging the Lakers to trade for him. Seemingly he ain't all that worried about his "downgraded professionalism"

Seems like Ol Kyrie has a legitimate beef this rip.

Quote:
Kyrie Irving issued the Brooklyn Nets a trade demand on Friday, and Chris Haynes is reporting that his beef with the team -- at least his most recent one -- stems from a championship stipulation Brooklyn included in the contract extension it recently offered Irving.

Haynes didn't elaborate on the exact language of this championship stipulation, but it could be tied to the final year of the deal not being guaranteed -- unless perhaps the Nets were to win a title between now and then.

Either way, Haynes continued to report that Irving was so insulted by this, shall we say, conditional offering, that he now wouldn't even sign with the Nets if they offered the full, unconditional max deal for which he is eligible to sign with them.

That's why you barnacle Simmons to Kyrie in any deal for Kyrie. If the Nets dump both Simmons contract and Kyrie on whatever team takes Kyrie and take expiring contracts back, they'll be able to sign James Harden and Khris Middleton in the off-season.
