He should have never been signed. Hahn not investigating him is grounds for termination.

He should have never been allowed to manage the rebuild.

 He isn't. That wasn't clear two years ago?

the comments by the girlfriend are strange though -

“He physically harmed our kid,” Finestead said. “He harmed her during the whole pregnancy of getting me so worked up. I would literally tell him while pregnant, all the time, you’re going to send me to a hospital.”

Finestead alleged that Clevinger slapped her and “threw chew spit” at their daughter in one incident, which aligned with the details that the Athletic first reported on Jan. 24. That incident happened last June, the Athletic previously reported. MLB first contacted Finestead on July 6, she said, but she didn’t start cooperating with the league’s investigation until the second week of September.

Finestead was so stressed out during her relationship with Clevinger that her teeth would be “gushing bleeding,” necessitating emergency medical work, she said."

so, allegations of being slapped and dip thrown at the kid probably arent going to be able to be proved. the other stuff is kind of, nothing. basically, 'youre stressing me out. stop stressing me out'?

I'm pretty sure getting someone worked up, or that they have poor oral hygiene that their teeth bleed when clenched isnt his fault

Like the Sox situation would be any different with another GM? C'mon.

This is how JERRY runs things, and nothing with the Sox will change until he dies or sells. We just have to accept that, or find another team to root for.

Not saying Hahn is innocent, but its clear that Jerry and Kenny lay out how the Sox will operate and that's that. The "GM" can either fill the roster within those parameters, or look for another job.

So Hahn is innocent. He's effectively worked the hell out of media and fans. Nothing that goes wrong is ever his fault. All that goes well is. It's remarkable.

The entire organization sucks. They are all culpable. The media sucks too. They slobber over everyone. Theo never made a bad move, and nobody seems to care that the Bulls are a shitshow.

Kinda remarkable they are as good as they are. What other franchise has the GM coming into the boardroom on his hands and knees saying, "Thank you sir, can I have another?"

That's only if you believe the narrative that Hahn feeds the media, I don't.

His pick actually sucked. People drunkenly falling over themselves to criticize TLR never mention that.

From today's Tribune on Lucas Giolito.

So he worked out this offseason to take off 20+ lbs of muscle he put on in the gym last offseason.

The end result is a slimmed-down version of the 6-foot-6 Giolito primed for what he hopes will be a return to his previous form with the Chicago White Sox.

Giolito bulked up ahead of last season, and it turned into a disaster.

His pick had one of the same problems Larussa had. Vast injuries. The other problems LaRussa had have been widely acknowledged. Even by the "managers mean nothing" crowd.

LaRussa was the best one year and the worst the next. Did he undergo a brain transplant?

He had several different "forms" even before last season. Who knows which one we'll see.

No, he was bad throughout his WS tenure. If you want to credit him for a surprising 1st half in 2021 feel free, but I'm more inclined to attribute it to the vagaries of baseball (such as Yermin's ridiculous start).

I've grown tired of these yearly stories of guys who went through body transformations in the off-season. They all "feel great" in spring training before returning to what they really are.

With all of the injuries, TLR got the most out of Tim Anderson and the designated hitters. He wasn't the problem.

Got the most out of...how exactly? By playing them? Did TLR teach Yermin how to bat .400 for a month? If so, why did he stop teaching him?

Edit: for the record, I don't think he was the sole problem. It's always on the players. I just don't think he helped the situation.

Not sure we fire up the World Series train now, but I guess it makes them better than they were this morning.

It's nice they have at least one middle infielder now that doesn't cheat on his wife or hate cops

I think you can only find so many combinations of TA, designated hitters, and AAA players. He pressed the right buttons for a while. The injuries to pitching, key position players, and the power outage were too much to overcome in the end. I'm not saying TLR was faultless, but I think roster construction was the biggest issue.

Anderson Comas came out as a pitcher. If he's as bad at that as he is at baseball, he'll be married to a woman soon. Naturally, the White Sox are proud of the way he pitches.

Mully and Haugh had Chuck Garfien on this morning, and talk about a "reporter" carrying water for a team. Garfien made it obvious he was not going to say anything bad about the Sox. He said Rick Hahn has done as good a job as possible in dealing with Clevinger. He also said the Pecota projection (74-79 wins) is wrong because they won 81 games last year with "every player" other than Cease having a bad year. Uh, you lost Abreu (4.2 WAR) and Hendriks (for probably most of the year) and your big signings are a 2-3 WAR outfielder and now a 2B who has never played 2B.
