Awaiting Beardown to start a thread about the KD trade around 8pm tonight and say it needs its own thread

His belated Demar Hamlin thread is 20+ pages.

Guy moves meters.

I find it hilarious that the NBA has pushed the great NFL’s stories down to page three. Not just funny, but I wish they could keep them there.

NFL needs Patrick Mahomes to win on Sunday, to cement his role in the story-line of being the successor to TB12.

Jalen Hurts winning, while a great story in/of itself, does nothing to buoy the overall NFL's place in the public consciousness. Even people who don't generally like sports know who Patrick Mahomes is and like him and want him to win. He's the Steph Curry of the NFL in that regard, older white women even/especially like Mahomes and Curry.

Would have loved the Bulls to do something. What a joke this franchise has become.

Yeah that Caruso for Wiseman deal sounded like an excellent deal to me too.

I just saw that OKC has 34 picks in the next 7 drafts, 15 1st rounders and 19 2nd rounders.

addition by subtraction. the West is wide open. Lakers make the playoffs by default now and may even get out of the play in tourney.

That' is if Lebron sticks around. Watch that dude force a trade or shut it down after the KD and Kyrie aqusitions.

You keep screaming this but as I told you awhile ago no one is fearing the Lakers these days. They just aren't that good and Westbrook wasn't nearly the problem he was made out to be. Just more collateral damage of having had to play with the egomaniac that is Lebron James. When a team wins he gets all the credit and when a team loses the other guys get all of the blame. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Westbrook is a terrible player. His stats look great but if you've watched his games this season (and I've watched nearly every one) he just kills that team when he's on the floor. Always left open, good for 2-3 backbreaking T/O's per game, can't make layups, bad three point shooter but has no conscience, I can keep going on.

They aren't (and weren't) a good team when Westbrook wasn't playing either. When LeBron wins its due to his his (and only his) individual greatness. When he loses its everyone else's fault. From coaches to Gms to players.

Lavine and Westbrook are very similar in the sense they look better on paper than games won.

I am no Lebron apologist. He lacks a killer instinct and is passive so many times when he could be active. He sits a ton for a team that is yet again verging on not making the playoffs (although they almost certainly will now because the Jazz are done and the Blazers aren't that good) and he complains to officials non-stop. Every last possesion.

But he's a great player. If you watch him enough, he shoots well from 3 late in his career (didn't start off well this year but has gotten more consistant) and when he wants to score, he'll score or get fouled. It's his fault they picked up Westbrook, who was a joke last year and this year was a smitch better. But the Lakers should make the playoffs and they've finally surrounded him with enough 3-D guys and a backup big for when AD inevitably goes down. They could make some noise. I hate they guy and what he stands for but I have an appreciation for just how talented he is.

granted, NO was without Zion. But the Lakers really made 'em look stupid. 3 new starters and a new feel. There's no way a team wants to see these guys first round if Lebron and AD are healthy. This is going to make it difficult the last 23 games for my hate watching.

Would be hilarious for him to torpedo both LA teams in the same season.

On the flipside if he somehow elevates the Clips it would serve as an FU to GM LeBron

Sounds like Giannis avoided major injury but not going to be back for a little bit.

no, I really do hate them. But there's an inevitability with them. Last year was weird. I can't figure out why they didn't figure it out. But now there's no one in the West they should be scared of. They may get out of the play in after all.

no, sadly it would actually validate him. He wanted him.

Westbrook still has way too many stupid weird turnovers. But he had started to play well for the last few months.
