Blackhawks are expected to send franchise icon Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers, and a trade call with the league is planned for Tuesday night, according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff.

In return, the Blackhawks will receive a conditional second-round pick in 2023 and a fourth-round pick. The second-round pick could turn into a first-rounder in 2024 or 2025 if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference Final this season.

The Blackhawks will retain 50 percent of Kane's salary to make the deal work, and the Arizona Coyotes are involved as the third-party broker to eat another 25 percent, per ESPN's Emily Kaplan.

Why was this posted in last years season thread and not the 22-23' Blackhawks season thread?

That's such a low return they should have just finished the season with Kane.

It does suck as a return, but there was not much else they could do. And you owe it to Kane to give him a shot to play for a contender.

 Nah was just in a hurry and clicked on the wrong thread. Sadly there are not many threads in the hawks section to separate things out
