MANY had him falling to the Bears before this news.... not sure if this will change anything.

Athens-Clarke County police said Wednesday that, "alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving, and speed were significant contributing factors to the crash" in January that killed two members of the Georgia football program.

Georgia recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock were killed in the crash. Offensive tackle Warren McClendon and recruiting staffer Tori Bowles were injured.

The toxicology report, police announced Wednesday in a press release, indicated that LeCroy, the driver of the 2021 Ford Expedition, had a blood alcohol concentration of .197 percent at the time of the crash. The legal limit in Georgia is .08 percent. Police said “evidence indicated that shortly before the crash the Expedition was traveling at about 104 miles per hour."

Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday for former star defensive lineman Jalen Carter for reckless driving and racing. Carter is a projected top-five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

“The investigation found that Chandler LeCroy, driver of the 2021 Ford Expedition, and Jalen Carter, driver of a 2021 Jeep Trackhawk, were operating their vehicles in a manner consistent with racing shortly after leaving the downtown Athens area at about 2:30 AM,” the press release said about the crash that occurred around 2:45 a.m. Jan. 15 on Barnett Shoals Road. “The evidence demonstrated that both vehicles switched between lanes, drove in the center turn lane, drove in opposite lanes of travel, overtook other motorists, and drove at high rates of speed, in an apparent attempt to outdistance each other."Investigators determined that alcohol impairment, racing, reckless driving, and speed were significant contributing factors to the crash. The case will be given to the Solicitor General’s Office."

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart released a statement on Wednesday, saying, "The charges announced today are deeply concerning, especially as we are still struggling to cope with the devastating loss of two beloved members of our community. "We will continue to corporate fully with the authorities while supporting these families and assessing what we can learn from this horrible tragedy."

Cars allegedly racing has recently been the cause of multiple charges for those associated with the Georgia program.

I'd like to dismiss this because he's so good. But they need to figure out if this is going to be a regular thing or a one off screw up. If I knew all I had to do was fly straight for 4 months and I get 30m guarenteed... I'd lock myself in my house and ditch the internet

Before the crash (in September) he also had a ticket for going 89 in a 45.

Poles really can’t fuck up the first round pick (wherever it ends up). I don’t see how you can even have the guy on your board if you’re the Bears. He may be fine, but they don’t have the luxury of taking chances.

Seems to have Henry Ruggs disease and that guy should never see the light of day. I'd consider Carter if he agreed to only drive bikes or scooters for the rest of his life, nothing else.

Interesting how this is will be treated versus say , the Clevinger signing.

He'll likely drop in the draft and lose millions of dollars. Clevinger will get paid after allegedly abusing drugs, a child, and women. You need a better comp.

I think you're missing his point, Nas. Because he's black he will get a pass on the Score from the hosts. They won't have the family of those who died in the crash on air to talk about it and tell their side of the story.

There were already questions about his character before this incident. I would be surprised if he's a top 10 pick. Depending on how serious this becomes, he could fall to the middle rounds.

Laremy Tunsil dropped from a potential 1/1 to 13th overall for smoking weed.

This seems substantially worse than that.

Well Clevenger was also signed by a Chicago team and Carter wasn't.

It's obviously worse. It's embarrassing the weed enlightenment over the past few years took so long but it is what it is. I don't think a video of a top prospect smoking weed would drop in a draft now like Tunsil did in 2016.

So fucking what ? The point is that Clevenger shouldnt have been signed at all ( prevented from earning a living) because of “ allegations” of wrongdoing and the White Sox /Rick Hahn are terrible for allowing that to happen. Think anyone will say the same about whatever team signs Carter ?

Josh Gordon had a potential HoF career destroyed because he used weed to deal with anxiety. I believe his team killed a man with his car, and he was on the field the following week.

The Josh Gordon thing has to be one of the biggest sins of the NFL in recent years. He was completely railroaded.

He drove a vehicle dangerously. Many if not most young men do the same. They didn't die because of his driving. He fled because he's a scared kid and might have been a bit impaired himself. Death of a friend tends to sober a person up. I'd want to see if it has with him.

As far as it relates to the Bears, the plan is the same, trade out of #1 for the best offer wherever that may be.

If the Bears have soured on him, then it just limits their trade options if they want to go with Will Anderson Jr.

How could they possibly pick this guy?

Best case scenario, he was involved in a race where people crashed & died and he left the scene/lied to police about it. Worst case, he did that while drunk.

Counterpoint: He's really good at football.

or, the score won't do that because Carter isn't rostered by a chicago team. If the Bears draft him, and the score is silent, then maybe there is a point.
