I think this is the Ravens best move.

Because if LJ was really healthy enough to play in the playoff, then that's going to be tough to come back from amongst his teamates.

The GM publicly acknowledged they haven't put enough around Jackson. Even as they continue to invest in their defense. The players appear to universally love him. I don't think he will have any locker room issues.

Knowing how mgmt was screwing Lamar, I can’t believe that the other Ravens have any problem with what he did. Eric DaCosta seems to be at best a stooge for ownership, at worst yet another blithering idiot who isn’t capable of doing that job.

Even their plan sucked. They were supposed to have a great defense and let Lamar and Andrews carry the offense. The defense blew countless leads. I've never seen an organization do less to support a superstar quarterback.

I’m surprised how quickly the Ravens’ reputation collapsed. I always thought they were one of the better organizations in the game. The players’ survey killed that.

I think we started to see that, and then Lamar saved a lot of jobs. They've had some bad luck, but they've also made a lot of dumb decisions recently.

If you look at the standings on W-L record the teams finish in order of first to worst as QB ranks go. Cincy gonna run that division like the Chiefs run theirs.

Yeah, Burrow is the 2nd best quarterback in the game. While his line isn't great, he does have 2 of the best receivers in football.

If the Bears could build up a D, they could potentially become a poor man’s version of the Ravens. That changes if Lamar leaves.

I almost want Baltimore to franchise him just as an experiment to see if that model works.

As cheap as the Brown family is, I fully expect them to fizzle completely out in two seasons. They aren’t going to be able to pay anyone beyond Burrow and if I were him I’d be looking to gracefully get away from the city and franchise. Funny how the NFLPA has already started calling them out.

They can keep the trio of Burrow, Higgins and Chase together 1 more season, maybe two. new contract for Burrow, Franchise Tag for Higgins and of course they will give a 5th year tender on Chase.

The Ravens for years have screwed Lamar by not developing a serious supporting cast around him on offense. They keep investing in defense which I don't have a problem with in a vacuum but you can't expect to win when Holywood Brown - at best a no 2 - is your no #1 and he's surrounded by either no-namers or guys who were relevant 10 years ago (DeSean Jackson). Then you trade your underwhelming no 1 WR this year for I don't know what. Very poor management. The only team that's been maybe worse than Baltimore at capitalizing on a star QB has been that shit show in GB.

Very good tight end, decent backs (if Dobbins is healthy) and a great offensive line. They prioritized running and defense, which makes some sense given Lamar’s skill set.

The very good tight end doesn't matter when you can scheme him out of the game because there are no other threats elsewhere. Again, Desean Jackson and Sammy Watkins junior don't belong on rosters in 2022. They were on rosters in Baltimore and GB. That means both teams suck at WR.

I think you're overrating the RBs. None could stay healthy and they're barely above replacement level. That team has nothing on offense at skill outside of Jackson and Andrews. Not enough.

Vegan is right, aside from the te there isn’t much around Lamar in large part because it seems as if no one can stay healthy. Bateman essentially called out the training staff and I’m inclined to agree with him. Baltimore seems to start each season pre injured. Speaks to an oblivious front office to me

Then they trade for more defensive playing.

It’s clear they’re going defense and running. They either don’t think highly of Lamar as a passer or don’t think he’ll ever stay healthy to support spending resources on skill players.

Didn't they use first round picks to draft bad to mediocre receivers? Why not spend one for Adams or even a Hopkins? Lamar was good enough to successfully force feed a triple covered TE because he was the only guy who could consistently catch. I don't think they believe he can stay healthy.

Because they’d have to allocate a ton of cap to Adams (and maybe Hopkins, depending when/if that was an option), and those are dollars they’ll spend on the other side of the ball.

Brown was a decent draft pick. They decided to turn him into offensive line support.

When an NFL player actually has leverage they have to use it. Baltimore has to know if they tag him there’s 0% chance he’ll play hurt, he can just say this training staff is worse than the Bulls.

They didn't want to pay Brown. They literally didn't have an NFL level running back his last year in Baltimore. Brown was targeted a lot and he would disappear. He's a Mooney type receiver.

Even if you want to run the ball it doesn't follow that you basically sign anyone off the street to play WR. You still have to sign/acquire guys who can catch the ball. They don't have anyone who does that outside of Andrews and maybe Bateman. And it shows.

Poor Lamar Jackson. I don’t understand why the Ravens just won’t give him every dollar of his contract guaranteed like he wants.

They just did. The Jets, Buccaneers, and possibly the Raiders may be destinations.

Madness but any outcome that kept jones and Barkley is a win. And they have a ton of cap space for FA now that they didn’t have to tag jones.

Not really. They had 46 million as of today, but the Jones contract and Barkley Tag are going to eat up most of it.
