I would have preferred dropping to no lower than 5. 9 is too much.

Underwhelmed. Dropping all the way down to 9 and 61 for this year. Also, the Bears did the QB hungry teams all a favor by dropping past 5. Just seems like a deal similar to this would always be there so why not show some patience and get even more greedy.

I’m interested to see if any of the other teams (like Arizona) move their pick to a QB desperate team and what that compensation looks like.

Yep someone is going to get a first in 24 and 25. Bank on it.

Poles should be driven back to the airport if Carolina gets a haul for the pick. He’s getting reverse Costnered.

DJ Moore has a crashing catch % and is kind of a nut.

Carolinas picks will be good for us next couple years.

I'm thinking Carolina wins 5 games this year, I love the trade for the Bears.

I'm thinking Carolina wants Richardson and thinks he's there if they swap with Indy.

Seems like many think whoever goes number 1 will be underwhelming but also think the Bears should have got more. If us (dignified) rubes see the top of the draft sucks, you'd have to assume GMs see that too. Sure it only takes one team, but maybe Carolina was and would be the only one. Also, looking at previous trades for the #1 pick I think there were some unreasonable expectations for what the Bears would get.

 They’re on the hook for $200m+ to their current guy.

I think that the addition of Moore makes it a good trade. They are now pretty well set with young yet veteran receivers. Maybe Poles did blink a bit but Moore will make a big difference in the passing game. He probably will go for a linebacker or edge rusher in the draft I think?

The Panthers should be pretty bad next year so a top pick is very possible. No matter who they draft this year is not going to be a good qb off of the bat. I am really geeked up about getting Moore. Now I expect they will turn to working out how to rebuild a terrible defense front seven.

Moore makes a helluva difference as far as I'm concerned. Now Fields needs an OT and a center and the offense should be set. They do need to decide on a running back.

I am with you right here brother. Last year the Seahawks went O-Tackle (Bama) in round one, the O-Tackle in round three (Wazzu). Now they are set at those spots for the next half decade or better.

Fields has his targets, now let’s keep him from getting killed.

Listening to Parkins and Spiegel would lead one to believe the Bears won the Super Bowl today.

I'm not that excited. I knew they would get a lot. Everybody did. Guess what? They got a lot.

Bottom line, none of it matters unless Fields is great. That's all that matters.

You weren't getting a #1 WR in free agency.

No, but you could have grabbed one in the draft.. this is supposed to be a rebuild. Poles is treating this like he’s 1 player away.

Not only that, but..

Traded for Claypool, has Mooney, drafted Velus Jones (basically special teams ace for Tenn that occasionally played WR.. who was also 25 when they drafted him)

Early signs point to Poles not knowing what the hell he’s doing. As a fan, I hope for the best.. but I’m planning for the worst

Why do you believe the Bears lost a shot at an elite player? Only 4 of the best non quarterback prospects will be off the board before their selection.

The Bears acquired a #1 receiver with a below market value contract. How is that a negative? Are you confident a WR in this draft is better than Moore. I liked Jakobi Meyers in free agency, but he isn't better.

Poles has given Fields 3 quality wide receivers. He's likely going to put a solid line in front of him. He's giving Fields all the tools he needs to succeed. If he fails, Poles will pivot next offseason. I'm not sure what you are expecting, but it's clear to me what he is doing.

Edit: The Bills gave up a 1st round pick for Diggs, and Diggs was 2 years older. Diggs didn't have the same catches or yards as Moore before he was dealt. Diggs also played with a far superior quarterback.

Heard about it getting off the plane last night. I think once their supposed guy had questioned character they moved away. 5 very good talents vs one potentially great one is what this team needs to get turned around. They had no flexibility to move and get the DE. Draft and free agency is going to be bananas now.

It's a nice haul compared to past #1 trades.

Read Poles chose Moore over a 2025 first. Leaning toward the first if true.

There were numerous pie in the sky dream scenarios, but did it make sense for Houston to move up one spot, or for Indy to move all the way up to #1 when they could give up less to move up a slot or two and still get a QB?

Teams usually do not give up young talented players with favorable cap situations like Moore, that move makes no sense for the Panthers who will bring in a rookie QB with nobody to throw the ball to and with little draft capital to build a team around him.

Moore seemed to seal the deal, read where he would have cost a late first or early second in a trade, much younger and more cap friendly WR1 than D. Hop would have been, and better than any of the FA or draft WR's available this year, very smart move by Poles. A true #1 WR who moves the rest of the guys down a slot where they likely belong.

You still can sign a big name FA (at DT/OT), and still maybe 2-3 second/third tear guys who will be instant starters, so before the draft you have filled your WR1, likely will fill an OT slot, sign a DT/DE/LB, and C/G via FA, basically 3 new starters on offense with a shot at one of the top o lineman, so 3 out of 5 o line slots filled with substantial upgrades. You maybe live with Jones and Whitehair/Jenkins, but have three quality guys around them which will take away all the excuses for Fields.

Still need a ton via the draft, but starting to as the experts love to say, "put the pieces in place", to build a much more competitive roster.
