They almost made the playoffs last year due to being in a horrible division. Their roster is still probably better than ours. I don't think they're a candidate for a top 5 pick next year.

Panthers are certainly top 10 draft pick next year, great shot at top 5

Bears
Texans
Raiders
Falcons
Colts
Cardinals (no Murray and probably trading Hopkins)

Gotta think the above will be worse than Carolina

yeah clearly and that is definitely an added benefit to this trade.

I think the bears have every opportunity to be a massively improved team next year. They won’t be top 5 again.

It seemed pretty certain before, but now it absolutely 100% has to be either DL or OL for the Bears in the first round.

Let's see. Worst roster in the league last year. Improved at WR but still have MASSIVE holes basically everywhere else except maybe the defensive backfield. That's a lot to rectify.

This was probably the only serious deal available. I felt like Poles was trying to create a market. We'll start to hear the leaks soon.

Well there’s a great chance 4 of the picks ahead of the bears are qbs, so they should be able to take a difference-making player at any position they’d like. If I were them I would t get hung up drafting soley on positional need. Take the biggest difference maker on your board.

And they have very deep pockets to address every area of need immediately this off-season.

You put Mooney in the slot.

9 is bad but 4 will probably be quarterbacks in the top 8.

If Skoronski is there at 9..gotta take him.

To play guard? Only if Murphy isn’t available.

What 3 other players outside of Will Anderson will be off the board? Hopefully, Carter is one of the 3.

The Van Ness kid is interesting, young guy with a seemingly high ceiling, a bit undersized right now to play the 3 tech, but could be an absolute monster inside with a year or two of NFL level "saying your prayers and taking your vitamins".

Murphy looks NFL ready, a bit bigger, very solid against the run, does he fall to #9?

Experts all say the same thing about Skoronski, day one starter in the NFL, but likely at OG, do you pick a guard at nine when you have some solid defensive prospects still there?

Really like Campbell at LB in 2nd if he is still there, bigger and more athletic than Sanborn, size and athleticism is somewhat comparable to Urlacher, you pair him with an effective three tech and you have two key components of the vaunted Lovie cover-2 in place.

When is Lovie's statute going up? One of the best coaches in Bears history and provided the franchise with an opportunity to totally rebuild it's roster, he was the Bears MVP last year.

You guys who are shitting on this trade are being unreasonable, DJ Moore is a very good WR, the best we've had since Marshall. At 25 years old he's worth a second round pick and a 4th rounder.

The Bears can legally start talking to free agents on Monday. The Bears have enough cap space to sign around 15 to 20 free agents for $12M a year.

With the guarantees, the first year of these contracts can have a very small first year cap hit.

The Panthers have about $20M in cap space to plug their holes. They do have a lot of talent on defense, though.

Do people still like Skoronski or are the short arms a deterrent?

Panthers played way over their heads for Steve Wilks after the Matt Ruhle fiasco, and then the defence was rewarded with Frank Reich. Defense will regress a bit, offense will not improve because they have no playmaking capabilities, they will end up at #5 next year.

If Murphy and Wilson are off the board, why not? Play him at guard and cut Whitehair. We'll have a great offensive line for Fields or his replacement.

It might take some more maneuvering, (because 9 overall is probably too high) but I still want to come out of this draft with Jalin Hyatt

I'm a big Hyatt fan, but I don't see how that would be possible with Mooney and Claypool still on the roster.

Claypool may have a contract extension on the way. I would be surprised if he were just a one year rental.

Van Ness reminds me more of the Bosa’s.. but he’s raw.. he’s got a good bull rush and is better off the edge with some space or coming in at angles to attack the tackles. I don’t like him at DT tho, more of an edge, I think he needs space to work or distance to get a couple of steps to add extra punch to his rush. He needs to develop more pass rush moves as the bull seems to be his go to in the highlights I’ve seen. I do like him tho.

That said, I’d prefer Wilson or Van Ness to Murphy at 9 if they’re all there. Skoronski seems high at 9 if he’s a guard.. you can get good guards later in the draft or in FA.

DeMarvion Overshown is an LB I like quite a bit that the Bears could maybe nab in the 3rd. Similar size to Urlacher and similar pedigree (former safety).. he might be a liability against the run early in his career tho (like Brian could be).. but he’s great on blitz packages and in coverage.
