I couldn't find anyone unless you are asking for Horn or their rookie LT.

Some/all of these Chicago radio guys get lazy when they talk about Poles "believing" in Fields. Acquiring Moore and declining to draft a QB this year doesn't necessarily mean you believe in Fields, or that you think Fields is a star QB1. It's just like Oakland acquiring Adams last year - it didn't mean they thought Carr is their guy. The only thing that is gonna "commit" you to Fields is either signing him to a deal or Poles legally marrying him. Otherwise, even though they got a WR this year and skipped on drafting Bryce, Poles can easily cast Fields aside and just grab someone else to throw to Moore next year. Bernstein and his ilk are just throwing this belief stuff out there to bolster their false narrative that Fields is already a legit star.

I love that Poles has a plan and a level of discipline that you don't usually see. I love how he tore down the roster and put the Bears in a position to luck into the #1 pick. I like that he's willing to talk to the media. That said, the local and national guys blowing him has become annoying. Not quite Fields level though.

But...I'm usually wrong at this stuff.

Broderick Jones has been moving up the boards and is the kind of athletic guy they like, see him as second rated o lineman behind Skoronski, might be a guy to watch if they trade back a few slots.

He would seem to need a year to get stronger, but they were fine with Braxton Jones learning on the job last year, seems like a Poles type pick.

Remember Hub talking about how Jenkins and Borom would be long term solutions at OT even though most felt both guys were NFL guards at best, but Poles might just actually find guys that actually have the ability to play OT in the NFL and are long term solutions.

a trade down and Darnell Wright from Tennessee would be ok with me

possible. but the logic of taking a good deal that is in front of you has merit too.

I think the deal was good and I'm satisfied.

I also think he was premature and that a more seasoned executive would have waited for the market to emerge with an array of interesting offers. It would have and actually was emerging in reading everything. I think the Texans, Colts and Raiders were all left dumbfounded that they didn't get an opportunity to make a final and best.

I also believe Poles just didn't have the fortitude to make the double trade down. He saw his career flash before his eyes and took a safe and acceptable route.

The Texans, obviously, would have been happy to include Cooks in any deal if that were the ask. I wouldn't mind sitting here with #2, #33 or 2024 first and Cooks. Someone would call for that pick and if not, Will Anderson is a great choice with an OT with the high second.

What about Carr and Garapolo though. If you wait then you risk the market decreasing because other times would sign FA QBs.

I don't think a team was more interested in either of them than a shiny, new QB.

Still think he ‘blinked’ on this one. Too much pressure holding that #1 overall.

At least he got a solid haul out of the trade tho. Pace would have fucked it up bad.

Fully out on the short-armed Pollack.

Our current short armed nerd would never let that happen to him.

The more I read I definitely think I would prefer Johnson and prob Jones over the NW guy.

Van Ness and Wilson are really intriguing as well.

Hopefully we dont out think everyone and take some DE from Wyoming A&T

Yeesh…an NFL DE could do that thing where he holds Skoronski’s forehead while Skoronski swings at him without making contact.

Good depth signing. He is from down the road here in Southern MO. One of the best high school football players I have ever seen in person. He was a one man wrecking crew. Led his public school to a state title and beat Ezekiel Elliot in the title game.

Quote:
The Bears on Thursday signed linebacker Dylan Cole to a one-year contract.

Cole, 28, has appeared in 61 games with 9 starts throughout his six-year NFL career. He spent his first four years in the league with the Texans after signing with Houston as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri State in 2017.

you guys do understand that Van Ness is slotted to go +/- a few picks in the first round of the draft from Skoronski, possibly to the Bears. I'd expect him to win some plays against top OT

what did Johnson do against him

“Yeah, but the other guy is very good!” isn’t something I want to here about a top ten pick getting sonned in an actual game. Here’s a much less embarrassing way to lose to an edge rusher:

Van Ness could become as great a player as the Watts, but Poles cannot gamble on him in the top 10.

I am not an Ohio State fan per se, but I would be bat shit happy if the three players come up with after the draft is over are from Ohio State. I know it would be almost impossible to do. But getting the Big OT, the OSU center, and the best receiver in that draft would be AWESOME, right?

I dont think you are getting 3, but I think it is very possible the Bears come away from their first 2 picks with the OT and C from Ohio St and that would be a great start on fixing the issues on the line.

See, the conclusion I would draw from looking at both clips is to draft Van Ness

Drafting a non starter with a top 10 pick is too much of a risk for a new GM. He's too raw. Poles needs someone who can make an impact next season.

How do we know he would be a non starter? The shape of this DL, you could be a starter on day 1

He wasn't a starter in college. That's what I'm talking about.
