We will have the sweet 16 by late this afternoon and then there is quite a bit of coverage this weekend. I don't have the Golf Channel as part of my cable package any longer so just waiting for the NBC coverage this weekend which will be ample with the basketball as well. Not really rooting for anyone specific. Hell of a drive by Rory on 18 yesterday. If you didn't see it check it out. After struggling with the big stick he put a different shaft in there and cut it down slightly for more control.

It's great having live golf on Saturday morning.

Rory and Herbert have been incredible. Rory has made 8 birdies thru 17 holes and is only 1 Up.

Scheffler 3 down after 6, 1up after 13. Dude is a machine.

Rory playing from all over in the quarterfinals, but hanging in.

I was surprised when the mentioned how lights out Rory has been driving. I guess he shortened his driver.

Others may have, I did not. I said I rarely find myself rooting for him, as was the case today. I was hoping Day could pull it out somehow.

Must have been one of the other guys. Another thing I notice this year is more errant drives into the crowd and such.

Good matches this morning. A Scheffler vs McIlroy Championship would be a potential fun watch

Nah, apparently it’s a several months long pissing match between the Austin Country Club, Dell, and the PGA Tour, in addition to how the evolving PGA Tour elevated events are affecting the Tour scheduling going forward. A match play event of some type may be salvaged, but it won’t be this particular event.

This... sounded like it is going to get replaced by a more inclusive event that will not have a cut. It was a good run.

Scottie obviously set the world on fire with a bunch of wins in a short time including a Masters and Players.

Sam Burns has won 5 times in his last 46 starts, and seems to be under the radar to everyone except the most ardent of PGA Tour fans which is insane. The guy has the goods as well.

Will Zalatoris out for season after withdrawing from Masters, undergoing surgery

Will Zalatoris will miss the remainder of the year after having back surgery, he announced Monday on social media.

Zalatoris said he had a microdiscectomy, a surgical procedure to relieve the pain caused when a herniated disc in the spine presses on an adjacent nerve.

Zalatoris said in his post that the decision to have surgery was made after “careful consideration” and seeking multiple opinions.

“As much as I hate not being able to play the rest of this season, I am happy that I am already seeing the benefits of the procedure,” he wrote. “Playing and living in pain is not fun.”
Damn.

I dont know if this has been posted here but this you tube series is great. Guess its some Barstool guys who take on pros in a 1 hole par 5 challenge where the pro can use only 1 club. This one is Sheffler and he's low key funnier than shit.

Yeah really shows the difference between the 10,000 hours and “ I played intramurals in college “

Speith with 2 nice chances to win, and Fitz with a great third playoff hole. What an ending!

I caught the last few holes and some of the playoff. Some very good ball striking but no one could drain a putt until a tap in won it. I’d suspect Spieth will take some time off. He’s been playing a lot this spring and there aren’t any huge events for next few weeks until Quail Hollow and Byron Nelson.

Yeah they have to revamp the schedule a little bit to give the guys a week off here and there between some of these elevated events. Phoenix, match play, Masters, Players, Arnold Palmer, RBC, among others are all sort of bunched together.

By shortening the overall schedule, they have really put themselves in a bind. By wanting to get the playoffs done before football starts makes the schedule much more congested.

Is he even going to play Majors anymore? Is he really going to do all of the rehab and prep work and whatnot just to make the cut and be a complete non-factor in terms of being anywhere near the top of the leaderboard? I know he still moves the meters, but as a competitor I don't know how many times he's going to deal with the pain of walking a tournament only to be one of the first groups out on Sunday.
