... And the vikes are still a threat, even 14 points behind...

We're sure losing people left and right. When's the bye week, again?

Are all these injuries bad luck, bad conditioning or what?

We needed all those points. Not much to say when you're secondary is full of people you haven't heard of before... But still, some thought has to be given as to when not to do cover-2.

Nothing like creepy minstrels to get me hungry for a mushroom burger. :?

This game was weird too. It was so exciting that I dozed off several times. :?

Here's the problem: this game, if anything, dispels the rumor that the Bears are primarily a Cover-2 team, at least usually. Let me explain.

Ordinarily in a tampa-2, the cornerbacks are almost an extension of the linebacking crew. You don't need tremendous cover backs, but they do need to know how to tackle and how to cover ground quickly. The Colts play the purest cover-2 in this regard. The Bears play the corners close to the line as well, but about 50% of their plays from scrimmage are run with man coverage on the outside with one safety back to cover the field and the Mike also dropping back into a medium zone.

This game exposes the fallacy because if the Bears were a true cover-2, losing corners wouldn't matter all that much. The Colts plug DBs all the time with no real change (for good or ill). However, with Tillman and Vasher out, that man coverage becomes impossible because they'll constantly be burned on the outside (you saw some of this today.) Tampa is similar.

i wouldn't say they were pantsed...they were disappointingly beaten. the aints weren't in it the whole game...i don't know what would feel worse, but i'm sayin...at least the bears did come out on top today.

A win is a win.

Orton continues to look awesome with each passing week. How he fit that first TD pass to Olsen in there I'll never know, that was a thing of beauty.

This defense sucks. Almost 500 yards and 41 points. Babich needs to go.

I don't know that Babich is the issue. I think the Bears have a lot of bad/old players on the defensive side.

Who would have dreamed the Bears would win a game this year by scoring 48 points

Nah. I could have seen that happening. Would have thought it would be with 3 defensive scores and a Hester return. We didn't have any of that. But we had 2 gift TDs from stupid Vikings on special teams. Let's not forget that when we bitch about games we should have won earlier this season. We got the breaks today.

Better way to say it: Who would have thought the Bears would win a game after giving up 41 points?

Bears have to be top 10 in the NFL in scoring this year. Maybe 6th or 7th after today. Who the hell would have thought that after 7 games?

You know what one of the best parts of the game for me was? NOT taking a fucking knee at the end of the first half. Let Kyle try and make a play more often. He got 3 more points for the team.

They also started from about the 40. That makes a big difference.

Yesterday's game reminds of a DIRECTV commercial with Jimmy Kimmel for the "NFL Sunday Ticket". Jimmy was talking about a similar shootout last season between the Bengals & Browns, "which had both defensive coordinators updating their resumes." Yesterday's game felt very similar...
