The Rays have 22 HR so far this postseason.
The Cubs had 23 HR combined from the 1989, 1998, 2003, 2007, and 2008 postseasons.
that argument makes no sense. 1989-No current Cubs. 1998-No current Cub hitters. 2003-Aramis. So 2007 is the only good comparision to the 2008 team and its performance. MITC was wise to add the 2007 and 2008 teams. That means more. But his argument is still that the Cubs need more HR hitters. And the Cubs finished 8th in total home runs and their top five home run hitters were better than the Rays top five. So a better conclusion to what the Cubs need would be to state that the Cubs need better playoff producers, not neccesarily HR hitters. When it came down to game 7 last night, the Rays got good baserunning and timely hitting. One home run, one double and one single brought in their runs.
